[On the topic of modern-day slavery in Mauritania]
Reforms need to be made to raise the standards of living for the slaves. That is all.
[A few posts later]
Slaves must be sustained and maintained like a member of the household. We may begin here. I have no qualms over slavery though.

No, I can see that... but thankfully 90% of people in the real World do not hold the same views as you.

I should think not. How's an inhumane twat supposed to react? For goodness sake, surely business people should be expected to engage in good management techniques in order to maximize profit?
Slavery is sound business practice, as it reduces the wage bill most satisfactorily and allows for excellent opportunities for keeping fit by the whip-wielding method. And don't forget the marvellous enjoyment to be had from the misery that you have personally caused. Most satisfying indeed.
If you're a conscientious arsehole, then you should certainly consider being a slave owner as a good means to be both a selfish tosser and a decadent member of the most noble guild of psychotic jerks.
Not only that, but you'll be doing the right thing by pleasing Bible God, probably. You know I'm right because you're so superior.

Of course not, as long as you're not the slave, right?
Same mantra of every slavery apologist ever. They're OK with slavery because they never imagine themselves as a slave.
"I have always thought that all men should be free; but if any should be slaves, it should be first those who desire it for themselves, and secondly, those who desire it for others. When I hear anyone arguing for slavery, I feel a strong impulse to see it tried on him personally. "
--Abraham Lincoln
Good. Come with me. You're my new house slave. Don't worry, I'll feed you and clothe you...just make sure you do a good job.
Whaddaya mean, you don't want to?
Slavery can - hypothetically, at least - be voluntary. I don't have much of a problem with voluntary indentured servitude, if that's what someone wants. The hard part of any system that incorporates such a thing is avoiding coercion.
Essentially kidnapping and forcing to work unwilling people is something else again, which I wouldn't even get close to accepting. That's all manner of wrong.
No, nonononononononononono!
There should never ne a question of dealing kindly with slaves. Slaves should be emancipated at once. The should be set free with probper and decent payment for the time they have had to suffer enslavement PLUS interest.

Yes. Freeing them would be a good start.

You're beneath contempt.
