[Colbert replaces Letterman]
What this hire means is a redefinition of what is ‘funny’ and a redefinition of what is comedy, and they’re blowing up the 11:30 format under the guise that the world’s changing and people don’t want the kind of comedy that Carson gave us or even Letterman.
They don’t want that anymore. It’s the media planting a flag here. I think it’s maybe the media’s last stand, but it’s a declaration. There’s no unity in this hire. They’ve hired a partisan so-called comedian to run a comedy show.

not fundie. maybe, stupid opinion.
it seem reasonable to assume Colbert will take the show to more democrat audience.
I guess rush didn't find nothing else to whine about.
Letterman is past his prime. His comedic sense has been slipping behind the times.
At least he knows how to bow out with some grace, Rush.
Even Jack Paar and Johnny Carson occasionally took sly digs at the political establishment. I can recall my parents gasping. O'Brien and Fallon certainly comment.
Unfortunately, I don't think Colbert will be in right-wing nitwit character during this show- not that there isn't enough material to fill a longer show.
What Rush didn't say was that he applied for Letterman's job, and his application was sent back with "HAHAHAHAHAHA" scribbled all over it, Joker-style.
Rush is just butt-hurt as usual.
At 56, knowing Daves early years, I don't know why this winds them up. Dave was acid-tounged and considered rude in his early late night at Nbc after Johnny, he continued that at CBS.
You'd have to be a regular watcher to know he was Liberal in approach. Colbert fits right into the narrative direction Dave built, his Colbert Report character is a character, a parody of right-wing figures that worked so well I think 20% of conservatives who watch think he's a younger, hipper Bill OReilly.
I guess they think him reaching a larger audience on CBS is a worry.

Colbert rules! And it goes without saying that Limbaugh blows rabid elephant drool. He also says: "CBS has just declared war on the heartland of America." As a member of The Colbert Nation and someone who lives in the heartland, go fuck right off. Rush also says: with Colbert in the Late Show seat, comedy will no longer be "a covert assault on traditional American values, conservatives. Now it’s just going to be wide out in the open." When has countering and mocking the ridiculousness and hatred coming from the right been "covert?" I get that the wing-nuts want all their shit swept under the rug, but come on...
I wonder if this dumb as dirt clod realizes that Colbert won't be doing his character from the Report when he takes over The Late Show. The right wingers seriously have an astonishingly difficult time separating fact from fiction and fantasy from reality.

And that's probably right. The >50 croud may want it, but the so-called "advertisement relevant group" of 14-49 year olds wants something else, something less old fashion.
Yup, Rush, that market economy really sucks, doesn't it?
Or should we bring back Dean Martin and Steve Allen?

Good one!
Oh, if we could only have Jack Paar and Ike back.
The first time I heard Lush Rambo I thought it was a Poe. A giant, stupid one, but fake, none the less. But it went on and on, not like a skit that ends sometime. And not funny.
I was surprised and taken aback when I heard him again ranting the same old shit, but what surprised me most was that people listened to him...on purpose! People that I knew. I needed new friends.
Well, Limbaugh might have a bigger concern here. Late night viewers for stuff like this tend to be older, this is the network gambling to go for a younger audience and this might also be the sign for conservatives that they're losing the young, which is going to kill them politically.
Letterman hated your fucking guts, Rush. He was a commie pinko liberal by your terms, you called him that before. Colbert OTOH, actually has many conservative fans who believe he's secretly serious/one of them. Sure that makes them delusional, but what else is new?
Confused?
