Whether one looks at the impossibly vague Tao and the deedless wu-wei of Taoism, or at the naïve altruism and formalistic categorical imperative of Confucianism, or at the escapism and ethical simple-mindedness of much of Buddhist thought (the Eightfold Path, for example, has a compelling force roughly equivalent to that of the Boy Scout Law), one is not surprised at the inability of these viewpoints to present any meaningful case for human rights or against a leadership that would slaughter unarmed student protesters.

"Whether one looks at the impossibly vague Tao..."
- The Tao makes far more sense than the Trinity
"...and the deedless wu-wei of Taoism,"
- At least Taosim has nothing like 'we are saved by faith, not works, so get a job you bum!'
"...or at the naïve altruism and formalistic categorical imperative of Confucianism,"
- Confusianism a lot more practical and sensible than Calvinism, which is just as formalistic, has two rather antagonistic categories (the smug elect and the damned) and has NO altruism to its credit. Calvinism is also far more restrictive and intrusive in people's lives than Confucianism ever dreamed of being.
"...or at the escapism and ethical simple-mindedness of much of Buddhist thought..."
- Bhuddism is a far more mature system of though than The Rapture will ever be.
It seems this little exercise in proving that Western theology is better than Eastern theology isn't panning out as you intended. Maybe you can critique food instead.
The Chinese government has had zero interest in these religions since the revolution, thus their relationship to Tiananmen Square is nil. Why don't you discuss the role of Christianity in the crushing of the WWI Bonus Army protestors, or at Mai Lai?
at the naïve altruism and formalistic categorical imperative of Confucianism
At last Confusianism proclams rulers should be good and that their subjects can overthrow them if they are oppressive, unlike Paul in Romans; moreover, it provides a rather sensible framework to organize a society and a meritocratic State.
(the Eightfold Path, for example, has a compelling force roughly equivalent to that of the Boy Scout Law)
At last it is not antinomian and don't claim psychopats can be saved if they only say the right words, as opposed to being good.
Whether one spews out an 83-word run-on sentence or attempts, instead, to convey a thought, depends on one's familiarity with good writing.
@prioritizin' the hipster way
Lol, you're trolling on the internet instead of having actual friends. Good job.
And what about ALL THE BUDDHIST MONKS WHO PROTEST IN BUNCHES OF OTHER COUNTRY?
OR THE TIBETIANS WHO STILL STRUGGLE AGAINST THE CHINESE!
ARGGGGGGGg
You make me fucking angry in a way nothing else has on this site so far. WTF'd.
the Eightfold Path, for example, has a compelling force roughly equivalent to that of the Boy Scout Law
Which is why it's used by people who don't need to be compelled to be good... unlike you lot who need a cosmic copper to force you to behave or you'll get smacked.

Aww, cute, it thinks it's people!!
@Ebon
"You don't actually know anything about those philosophies, do you?"
And that is just what Christians will never comprehend. At the bottom line they are philosophies, a way of learning and understanding the world around you, using your intellect, to find oneness, enlightenment call it what you will.
At the bottom line Christianity is a religion which frowns on anyone who tries, in any way, to think for themselves.
Confused?
