Quote# 104573

God created sex. God created our sexual desires. Sex is good within the borders of marriage. For those of you who think that God is a killjoy for limiting sex to such a situation, please remember a couple of things: 1) God created sex! How could he be a killjoy? Think about it. The very act about which you are complaining is an act he created. 2) God knows better than you do what will satisfy you. It takes an act of faith to believe this, but it is not too big a step to take. 3) Most married Christian men and women who, like myself, did not have a very successful single life would love to turn back the clocks and do it all over again. And this is not because we are not forgiven . . . we are. It is because we know the intimacy which is lost when you have already given yourself to another. Our advice to you would be to wait. If it is too late, stop and wait. It is never too late to trust God in this matter. As cliché as it may sound, he really does know best. Fornication is really a sin.

What you really mean is that you think you know better than all these people what will satisfy them.

Doubting Thomas

God created sex but gets mad when we do it. Frankly, I don't think God is nearly as upset over people enjoying sex without a ceremony & piece of paper as his followers are.

Professor von SCIENCE!!!

God's more into engaged virgins anyway.

Did God create every kind of sex or just the missionary kind?

Insult to Rocks

Yeah, God created sex so that he had something to do with his "holy, righteous penis".

"....when you have already given yourself to another."

I had sex with several women prior to meeting the woman who is now my wife (and has been my wife for 25 years). The only person I have "given myself" to is my wife. Having sex does not equal "giving yourself" to someone.

And then needlessly limited it to married people, even though he extended the ability and desire to do it to everyone. Hence, a killjoy.

I'm not really seeing how your argument works, there, Socrates.

Churchy LaFemme

Funny, I don't remember anything in the bible about God conducting any kind of marriage ceremony for Adam and Eve. Of course, there weren't any witnesses, so maybe that's why.

Fornication is really a sin.

Fornication is really a lot of fun, which is why fundies fear and hate and obsess over it. Bunch of priggish drama queens.

++"1) God created sex! How could he be a killjoy? Think about it. The very act about which you are complaining is an act he created."

By creating it and then not letting us enjoy it. Surely you're not really this stupid...

++"2) God knows better than you do what will satisfy you. It takes an act of faith to believe this, but it is not too big a step to take."

No, it takes a lemming mindset. The fact that we disagree so strongly on what sorts of sexual activity between consenting adults is acceptable means that by default he does not know better than me what will make me happy.

++"3) Most married Christian men and women who, like myself, did not have a very successful single life would love to turn back the clocks and do it all over again."

There's two likely reasons for this:
-You did it wrong (or didn't "do it" at all)
-You took up occultism.

Sins are supposedly offences against rules made by a god.

As there's no evidence that a god exists there's no reason to believe that sin exists: your argument falls at the first hurdle.

Okay, so he made sex. I wouldn't decry the improper use of my invention because I'm not possessive over it. So why should he?

1. Why didn't God create sexual desire that begin with the "I do", if marriage is so important to him?
2. Honey, "what will satisfy" me didn't change when I got married. Nothing much changed, except I had one more ring on my finger, and we had more expensive things than before.
3. What's a "successful single life"? Is that lots of casual sex, or no casual sex at all? Do you also buy cars and clothes without trying them on first, just trusting God in those matters also? No? Are clothes and cars more important than a wife?

So, you think it's to "know best", to stipulate that a woman who is found to not be a virgin on her wedding night should be brought to the doorstep of her father's house and stoned to death by the men in the village? What about the virginity of the man?

Your god is a monster who creates biological urges and then forbids their satisfaction purely for his own sick amusement.

mr patton, you're speaking as if some supernatural entity named 'god' were known to actually exist--whatever for?
