Deflection.
From the preachers primer:
Always wander off in other directions when asked a question, you may physically have to remove yourself until you can work up a sufficiently vague excuse for your bullshit, "god moves in mysterious ways" often satisfies the indoctrinated.
If you are faced with an unbrainwashed subject you really need to make yourself scarce and furthermore unavailable as your shit is obviously ridiculous and lame. Threatening them with judgement (or Hell) becomes your only recourse and you may not even need to make the choice to leave as you'll be laughed out.

Rays flock, luckily for him, are the type that make the Simpsons Cletus character look brilliant. I've certainly heard more wisdom from Cletus than Ray and his fully retarded fanbase.
Ray doesn't even remotely have to answer anything to his flock with sensible connected answers, all he needs to do is "Bible, God, Hell if you don't believe", his entire career is that, and he seems stupid because he is and he doesn't need to smarten up to fleece them at all.
They're pre-indoctrinated to bow to nonsensical preacher talk.
,,,and they need that last straw to cling onto, that's where Ray and the ridiculous preachers clean up, when others can't stand to preach the bullshit and try to pull the flock back to a benign idealism of love and peace, Ray and a bunch of other cons are there to walk them off the next cliff.
