Quote# 107522

In 10 years, the #BoycottIndiana folks will be trying to put pastors in jail for refusing to perform gay weddings.

Dan Onymous

No they won't.

Have they put pastors in jail for refusing to perform interracial marriages? No? Then they won't do it to you.

I love their fantasies about what will happen to Christians. It's a glimpse into what they'd like to do to those who refuse to go along with them.

Only the ones who aren't in jail for kiddy fiddling.

Rob aka Mediancat

Sigh. No they won't. Don't be stupid.

Thought that might be posted because the comment was 12 years old or something, like Rapture predictions. Turns out it's current so it's just modern fear mongering, business as usual.

60 years ago, the #BoycottIndiana folks were trying to get black people the right to sit wherever they wanted to in buses.

If we pass measures prohibiting the bullying of gay teens, the logical next step is extermination camps for all Christians. Right?

4/2/2015 5:38:20 AM

creativerealms

Nope no one wants that. That is your persecution complex talking.

4/2/2015 5:42:44 AM

Doubting Thomas

I guess you've never heard of the First Amendment. Or is this just your persecution fantasy?

"Oh yeah! I bet you want to throw me in jail for my beliefs, don't you? Don't you!? Throw me in jail where they'll... w-where they'll sodomize my sacred little Christian asshole. Maybe... m-m-maybe torture me for a while. Smack me around a little and call me filthy names. Just like Jesus! Buff, sweaty, half naked Jesus! Well do it! Slap those cuffs on my wrists! Persecute me! PERSECUTE MEEEEEEEAHHH~~!

... ... I don't suppose any of you godless heathen faggots has a towel or something I could borrow."

"Please just pay for your groceries and get out of our store, reverend. We've talked about this."

Dr. Razark

That's a fair assessment. Perfectly reasonable.

It's just like all those Catholic priests we have in prison now for refusing to perform Protestant, Jewish, Islamic, Hindu, and Satanic weddings.

In 10 years?
Awwww, why does it always take so damn long to get anything done around here?

I predict in 10 months the law will be repealed or deemed unconstitutional.

Uhm. How long has gay marriage been legal in Massachusetts? Has that happened there? No. Shut up.

See ya in ten years!

You don't really understand the concept of religion very well, do you? The government of the United States has tried to respect boundaries (in most cases except the tax thing, but that's a whole ' nother story). The only thing that is being slapped down is religions that do not respect that boundary. That boundary means that religious customs should be followed ONLY BY THOSE WHO FREELY CHOOSE THAT RELIGION. In other words, the following of religious rules is VOLUNTARY. Religions have no business messing with the beliefs and customs of others, who have the same rights of voluntary choice.

And when that does not happen you'll stay silent?

4/2/2015 10:30:25 AM

Senomaros

Are these morons incapable of seeing the distinction between marriage as a civil institution and marriage as a religious idea? Since it's the former that's legally binding and regulated by the government and has real effects and consequences, that's the one people care about. No one cares if some bigoted asshole in a robe refuses to perform a religious ceremony that isn't recognized by the state and has no legal consequences.

Get over yourselves.

You mean like in Massachusetts? Oh wait...

If you're persecuted you complain. If you're not persecuted you complain. I we imprison you for anything, it'll be for being whiny bastards.

In 11 years, nothing of the kind will have happened, and you'll still be spouting hyperbolic BS.

Yossarian Lives

No-one's suggesting that, it's far too harsh, but I suspect that you would be ambivalent if homosexuals were imprisoned, thus exposing who is truly being prejudged and discriminated against.
