Jesus was quite anti-religion. You can follow religion or follow Jesus but not both.

Maybe if you look at the etymology (that's "-ligion" as in "ligature"). But the common use of the term is quite a different story. It's still a philosophy that vectors God/the supernatural into its equations. There's still enough sects that have some sort of ritualism, such as the Sinners' Prayer and its ilk, not to mention all the focus on not getting on God's bad side.
Where, exactly, does that leave the antichrist?
If Jesus was the Christ, and he was anti-religion, then the antichrist must be pro-religion, but if the antichrist is pro religion then he's pro-God, but he can't be pro-God because Jesus is the Christ and he's 1/3 of the Trinity, so that would make the anti-Christ pro Christ!
Help me Norman! Illogical! Illogical! Non Sequitur! Does not compute!
So Jesus was opposed to the idea of prayer, a belief that the self transcends the body and will exist after the body, a distinction between sacred and profane, and the notion of cultivating awe around the sacred?....... Oh, by religion you mean any teaching that isn't the Bible. Oh, well, yeah, I guess he was.
I'm assuming that here he actually means religion in the sense of church.
It was this sort of belief, such as the Cathar heresy, that went right in the face of the RC, they want their tithe, and, as I recall, was one of the triggers for the Spanish Inquisition.
Or I could be wrong.
Atheist: "Let me guess... Christianity is not a religion, it's a personal relationship with Jesus?"
BRTD: "That's right! Except when it comes to securing religous tax exemption for churches! And securing First Amendment rights for Christians!!"
So what you're saying, then, is that Jesus lacked even the most basic degree of self-awareness. So much for all-knowing, huh?
So...
Y'all going to call the IRS, or wait for them to send you an invitation? They'll probably be wanting to discuss a few years of back-taxes with you.
I hope you have a "personal relationship" with a good lawyer and accountant.
Confused?
