Living under my Fundiebrella, ella, ella, eh, eh, eh...
It takes no more than a few minutes of reflection on the subject to realize that the concept of "naturalness"much less that of a "natural order"is vacuous to the point of near incoherence.
...of course, if fundies actually partook in reflective thought, then they wouldn't actually be fundies.
@LeProon: lmao
How can the husband be the head of household if it's the wife's job to manage it?
Wouldn't that mean that in all matters inside the home, she is actually the boss and her husband has to answer to her ?
Someone didn't think this shit through.
So, in a Christian household, Christ is unemployed, the husband has two jobs and the wife works from home?
Not in my house. I'm sure that our piles upon piles of strange little toys, figures & knick knacks are treated far better than many christian women & children. To be fair though, some of our toys/figures are very obscure or expensive. I'm sure my Hot Toys Captain America or Darth Vader would fetch a high price, seeing as how I dust them & don't treat them like crap, unlike the way fundies treat their families.
Yet another reason to stay away from Facebook.
You know, with this image you're only saying that nobody should put any effort into anything since Jesus will do it all for you.
Either that, or Jesus is so incompetent at his job you need two redundancies.
Didn't really think this image through, did you?
A fairly standard fundamentalist's working model:
The lowest rungs are expected to shoulder the burden, the ones who give the orders reap the rewards, and a broader conceptual master is used in equal measure as a threat and portrayed as being threatened which must be preserved at all costs or everything you know will come to an end. Credit is passed up the chain instead of down, punishment is handed down from the top to reinforce the idea that they are above reproach, and anybody that steps out of line is accused less of having a realistic greivance but rather a mindless hatred of stability and order.
But remember it's not a strictly enforced tyranny; it's just the natural order of things no matter how much natural development and observable reality try to fool you. Like slavery, aristocracy, aggressive colonialism, social Darwinism, and rigidly enforced theological social structures like this... and those set out by the early Jews which Christians now mostly ignore for their convenience... or caste systems like those used in Hinduism... or the strict moral policing of Islamic extremists... or all the other stuff that is supposed to be Divine Will and the natural order but those pushing this model aren't having any of it and call it backwards despite marked similarities.
I thank Goomy for such natural things as Ebola and cancer and despise such unnatural things as polyester, the Haber process, and eyeglasses.
Because the "natural order" is always the best.
@LeProon
You might call it a frum-brella.
Bonobos, Hyenas, Anglerfish, Elephants, etc. exist, therefore Female Dominance exists as well. We win, you lose.
And this is based on Paul, not Jesus.
Deity can't be confined to a single book, therefore I feel the NeoPagan way makes the most sense.
Women & Men are made to be equals, EXCEPT IT, YA BIG DICKWEED!
If you view women as being subservient and secondary to men, taking the assumption that every woman is a housewife and not the bread winner, then I'd still disagree. I'd like to see these patriarchal Christian men that expect women to be their subjects manage the children and home sufficiently. I suspect that in many cases it would bring belly laughter from the wives, and curses of their unbecoming nature from these men that are irked by their perceived lack of control over the situation.
Also, I can't help but notice that water is escaping through the Jesus and husband umbrellas, whereas the wife umbrella seems to be the only one that keeps the occupants dry. The above two are best off discarded for another 'male' umbrella that is the same size, and value, as the functional one underneath. Then they might serve their purpose for a long time.
Finally, I'm sure that this image has featured here before, possibly last year.
Wait, how the fuck does this make any sense at all. The largest umbrella should block all of the rain, unless its about as solid as cheese cloth (a subtle comment by the artist on the inefficiency of Jesus).
I can't wrap my head around how you could fuck a metaphor up this badly.
Okay so let me get this straight, Jebus is suppose to protect everyone, but shit gets through so the husband has to protect his wife, who is the only one doing her job and not letting the kids get wet.
So the message is, just let the wife do everything 'cause not even god himself has his shit as together as she does.
If Christ is the umbrella over all, why is the husband making $12 an hour and his wife has to work to pay the rent? I know plenty of wives home taking care of children and managing the home. I see them pulling up to our local pool with the kids in their X6's and ML550's. But I doubt if Christ is the one paying their husbands $250K a year.
Confused?
