Ooh, a Canadian fundie! This is a refreshing change of pace. Let's see...
"We stood as a beacon of light to the rest of the world"
Er, no, we really weren't. Harper was somewhat notorious for skipping out on international conferences and meetings between world leaders. We also lost our seat on the UN Security Council under him. And the really big one: Harper was the first Prime Minister ever to be held in contempt of Parliament in not just Canada, but the entire Commonwealth of Nations! That is a supremely embarrassing and shameful precedent to set! (Here's a whole host of other reasons to hate him.) But please, tell me more about what a great example we set under him.
"the infamous 39% that voted to elect a nincompoop"
You mean like the 39% who voted to give Harper a majority government in the 2011 election? Don't bitch about the First-Past-the-Post system when it works against you, but remain totally silent (or even praise it) when it works in your favour; that makes you a colossal hypocrite. (Though hypocrisy seems to be par for the course with these rabid right-wing types.)
"the infamous 39% [...] need to be drawn back from the dark side"
I find this to be a hilariously ironic metaphor, considering the Harper government is widely considered to have been one of the least open and transparent governments in our recent history (which is made all the worse when you consider that part of Harper's 2006 election campaign was increased transparency and openness). In Canada, requesting information from the government is colloquially referred to as a FOIP request, the acronym taken from various Freedom of Information and Prptection of Provacy Acts, but journalists started joking that the acronym stood for Fuck Off, It's Private. So if anyone's on "the dark side", it's the Harper government and all its supporters.
"Everyone, take heart."
I take heart knowing that Harper got thrown out on his ass last October.
