Quote# 123554

Professor PZ Myers hates Christianity. Nor is he a big fan of my good friend, Ken Ham.

In writing about his hatred, PZ unwittingly showed his hand when he said,

"I reject his notion of sin — the idea that there is some kind of divine law against which we can transgress — but humanists do not deny that we can do wrong and we can do harm. We think we should do better, not to appease some vengeful deity, but because it improves our lives and helps make those around us happier and better able to live up to their potential. We certainly do accept that death is inevitable, but not because we are wicked — the wicked often seem to flourish while the good may die young. Are we to measure the virtue of human beings by their longevity? Charles Manson is 82, and surely destined to join the saints in heaven, while every infant death must open a chute directly to hell for its wicked soul."

His hatred is perfectly in line with the Bible:

"Because the carnal mind is enmity against God; for it is not subject to the law of God, nor indeed can be" (Romans 8:7).

PZ is unashamedly godless (a state the Bible refers to as "carnal"), and so his mind is at "enmity" against God. That means he is in a continual state of hostility towards his Creator. That certainly is true. Even though he doesn't believe that He exists, but he contemptuously hates the very thought of "a god."

But look at the pinpoint accuracy of the Scriptures:

"...for it [our carnal mind] is not subject to the law of God, nor indeed can be."

His hatred is directed at the "law of God,"--the moral Law (the Ten Commandments).

PZ is like a criminal who hates the police, not because of who they are individually, but because of what they represent. They stand for the law--that which is right and good, and that is offensive to someone who loves and lives for crime.

PZ's railings about his loved ones dying is tragic, but peripheral. They are not the main reason why he is angry.

His anger is primarily at God and His Law, because he doesn't like being told what to do. Like you and I before we came to Christ, he loves his sin, and he who loves the darkness hates the light.

I'm not sure why PZ called Charles Manson "wicked," when his atheistic worldview doesn't allow for anyone to be "wicked."

Or could it simply be that Manson transgressed the moral Law, which says "You shall not kill," and PZ intuitively knows that, because of his God-given knowledge of right and wrong (see Romans 2:15).

It's actually heartening to see him using his moral compass. If he would put down his weapons and study how God's moral compass is infinitely higher, he may rethink his rejection of "The soul who sins, shall die."

This is because every death is sobering evidence of the truth of that verse.

P.S. PZ hates the movie.

Odious Christianity

I woke up to Ken Ham testifying to his faith…and demonstrating why I hate Christianity. Hate is a strong word, but not strong enough for my feelings. Ken Ham might be a decent human being if he wer…

A real hatemeister, that Myers. Right up there with Hitler and Trump.

Bananaman, you are a fraud & a con artist of the highest order, & PZ is 100% correct is his assessment of you, your ridiculous little movie & the legalized theft you call christianity.

It is interesting that Comfort can't distinguish between law and morality here; police uphold the law, which is good? Only if it is a good law.

This is why religious extremism lends itself so well to authoritarians, and why for centuries the Church told us kings had the divine right to treat everybody else as their property.

This crap again? "Atheists can't have morality" argument #2,347,588,321. Yawn.

His anger is primarily at God and His Law, because he doesn't like being told what to do

How the fuck do you know that? How do you know what is in someone else's mind?

PZ Myers is rather an ass, but Dumfart and Hambone are stupid asses.

Given the amount of vicious abuse that Myers has endured from the creationist crowd, I'd say he's entitled to hate Christianity at this point. The attacks are never directed at an abstract concept, they're directed at him personally, and he has the police reports to show it. Decent people have not forfeited their right to hate. If they take up harassing the person they hate, we have laws to cover that.

Everyone, even Christians, should hate the Ten Commandments because they're woefully inadequate guidelines for living. Bible God worries about someone worshiping another god, but rape & child abuse don't even rate a mention.

Oh, shut the fuck up, Bananaman. You hav eno right to talk about morality and sin when you and your dear friend Ham are such blatant lying con artists.

Did you really, REALLY miss the point? Or did you just hate PZ because you hate PZ?

...his atheistic worldview doesn't allow for anyone to be "wicked”"

He just explained that to you, Ray. It's not that difficult. Harming other people is bad, synonym for "wicked".

I'm not sure why PZ called Charles Manson "wicked," when his atheistic worldview doesn't allow for anyone to be "wicked."

The evidence is right in front of Comfort's face, yet he flatly refuses to look at it.

Psycho Tits

I have a well-worn, marked and flagged Bible. Whenever I find a quote as good as PZ Myers' entry here, I copy it directly into the Bible. Lesser quotes are saved on sticky notes and put in the same place - without prejudice as to what religion, if any, the commenter follows.

I don't do this to deface the Bible, I do it because while I respect the ancient, poetic, and human nature of the book, I believe religion evolves. I want those who come after me in this world to see how mine evolved; to be surprised when they pick that book up to read not just what our desert forebears said, but also what we now say. I don't see the two as being in emnity. There's too much I do respect about the Bible to deface it with unworthy commentary.

Hey Ray, it seems to me there is a story in your bible (St. John ch.8) that talks about a woman, a well, and a bunch of hoity-toity men with rocks. You may want to read that.

Here's a news flash for you Ray, PZ doesn't believe in your imaginary friends.

As for you New Zealand, this is your last warning. Take this asshole back or we're going nuclear on you.

How can you hate an imaginary Daddy Dickwad in the Sky?

Why do you always quote that asshole Paul when you come after atheists, non-believers, and believers in other faiths? Paul is not Jesus. The Emperor Constantine just liked his chutzpah. Not many others did. Paul is the guy who tried to invent the religious pyramid scam, so I get why he's a favorite among frauds.

On a side note, Paul, like so many inventors was not the one to profit from his invention. A bully with deep pockets, in this case Constantine, took it all away and set himself up as the top monkey on the pyramid.

Your arse would be rekt to ribbons by Bill Nye. Just ask Hambone, Ray Cumfart.

The reason for that hatred is you, o fundies.

PZ can be wrong at times. It's extremely dubious, for example, that Ken Ham -- without his Christianity -- might be a decent human being.

Divine law also prohibits the consumption of shellfish and pork. Had a barbecue lately, Ray? Then you will burn in hell. And don't complain, by your standards, this is all perfectly fine and fair.

I doubt that Myers hate Christianity. Fundie Christians, yes.
No-one with a functioning brain is a big fan of the Hambone.

Showed what hand? That he’s a humanist, more interested in the common good of man, than in sucking up to a sky-bully? Yeah, how dare he!

It’s not hatred, it’s more akin to disgust, disregard and ridicule, I’d say.

Carnal is “of the flesh”, even godly people are carnal too.
He disregards gods, all of them. You’re in enmity against Shiva, Bananaman.

PZ is like a person who adheres to the laws, not because some mobster tells him to, but because following the laws makes life smoother for most people.
So, it’s right and good that people of the same gender can get married and adopt children. Great to know that you think that, Bananaman.

He started with rejecting the concept of sin, you imbecile. He thinks it’s a stupid notion to appease a sky-bully; you ought to do good for your fellow human beings.
No short-term memory, have you, dearie?

Wicked has a secular meaning too, dearie. His atheistic worldview allows that people who do not do good towards their fellow human beings, but actively harm them instead, are wicked, evil, criminal.

Mason didn’t kill anyone; everyone knows that! (He did, of course, incite others to kill.)
Also, it’s against the law of the land to kill, you imbecile. He instinctively knows that he doesn’t want to be killed, so it’s very bad to kill people.

Don’t that Jesus of yours say that you are all sinners? Have fun in Hell.

OK, Myers does hate Christianity. I give you that much, Bananaman.

I don't like PZ either but this is just ridiculous. It's several hundred words dedicated to screaming "HE'S SO ANGRY" about someone speaking in a calm, level tone and lying about what they said after quoting them. That's like a child showing their mom a video recording of theirself getting into the cookie jar and then saying they didn't do it.

Wicked, evil and wrong are NOT BIBLICAL CHRISTIAN ORIGINAL CONCEPTS.

Every culture has gone through co-operative social structuring. History has dozens of writings long before the Torah, any books of the Bible, recording moral standards and laws BETTER than Biblical ones.

Educated people know this
PZ Myers knows this, that why he and Hitchens and Many other state that they don't get their morals from that book.
Because that book is immoral by todays laws and rights.

I think Comfort And Ham are both full aware of this but to sell the book and religion they have to give it credit for things they know it, nor the church haven't done for society.

1/11/2017 6:13:38 AM

Hey Ray, have you and the Hamster sold everything you have and given to the poor yet?

No? Why aren't you guys following god's law? Why do you hate god and his law? Your anger is primarily at god and his law, because you don't like being told what to do.
