Atheism is a religious view. They believe there's no God. It's impossible not to have a religious view. It's like saying there's no weather.

No, saying atheism is a religion is like saying that bald is a hair colour. It's as simple as that.
Oh, and atheism isn't "believe there's no God", it's rather "lack of belief in any god". It's really not that hard.
Seriously, are religious fundies utterly incapable of imagining a worldview that doesn't revolve around a deity?
You know, I would think that religious people would be the last ones to want to make the definition of religion so broad it includes absolutely everything.
Maybe he kind of, almost, sort of has a point if "religious view" means "a view ABOUT religion" I suppose. But of course "they believe there's no God" is utter BS, anyway.
@Timjer
I use something similar to say it is a religious view.
Atheism is like shaving your head bald.
That said I am a recoverng fundie. It took a lot to get me to see just how fucked up Christianity was, and how much of a little shit I was while thinking i was superior.
No...it's more like saying I'm indoors, so I don't care if it's raining.
Well, no. That's a shitty analogy. I do have a religious view. It is that "god", being a no-show for millennia, is an imaginary concept. We have absolutely no observable phenomenon for which "god" is a necessary answer.
Another poor slob that confuses religion with faith. Thanks to a belief in object constancy, or taking something for granted, there is always a molecule of faith in our day to day lives. When we go to sleep at night, it's with the belief that we'll wake up and everything will be as we left it.... unless you're religious, then everything can change magically, so you better watch out! Trying to equate that tiny leap to the belief in the cartoon universe of religion is like comparing a spark plug gap to the Grand Canyon.
I can't prove a negative, but that's not the thing that fails the burden of proof requirement.
Edit: re. "believe there is no god." Penn Jillette: http://www.npr.org/2005/11/21/5015557/there-is-no-god
What Fundies fail to understand is that atheism is not like (insert religious sect here). There is no leader, and not everyone agrees with Penn Jillette, or has to .
Damnit, Terry! I liked you! Why does every action/muscular star I like turn into a fucking fundie fruitcake!?
I guess that commercial where his brain left his skull and exploded wasn't entirely CG after alll...
@creativerealms:
It's a baseless attempt to winch atheists into theists' arena, which they then use to make the further argument that atheism is a religion. We've seen it a thousand times just in FSTDT's archives, alone. They seek to "level" the playing field by dragging us down into their mud pit and slathering some on us upon realising that they can't climb out without first cleaning the muck off of themselves. In short, it's the "but everybody does it" excuse and it's about as accurate as ever.
NOT viewing things through a religiously-colored lens isn't a religious view any more NOT throwing salt over your shoulder for luck is a superstitious habit.
"Atheism is a religious view"
And abstinence is a sex position.
Well, just as long as you don't count Bristol Palin.
Do you believe in Shiva, Terry? No? Why?
We lack belief in ALL gods, goddesses and other deities, because there is no evidence for the existence of any of them.
" It's impossible not to have a religious view. It's like saying there's no weather."
It's more like saying bald is a hair color.

"You know, I would think that religious people would be the last ones to want to make the definition of religion so broad it includes absolutely everything"
No, they're the first ones.
They only understand religion so they interpret everything everyone does as some kind of religious activity.
Rainbows don't physically exist, but can be seen . They're a product of the weather.
Your call.
...oh, and if we're a religion, where is our tax exemption: backdated & with interest too.
If you're so eager to admit Atheism is a religion, prove that eagerness: start unchaining those wallets & bank accounts of fundies, and pay what's due to us: untold billions, if not trillions : which is exactly what you fundies owe in back-taxes since 1776 in the US.
...thought not. Destroyed argument, much?
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
