The hilarious thing is that's how Jesus actually was in real life. So the Republicans are just following his example, aside from the whole murdering-everything-on-earth thing.

Neo, this is why it's important to understand what you're criticizing. You can't just go "RELIGION BAD, ME GOOD", you have to actually study it and know why it's bad and why it's not bad. Things are pretty complex.

Most of the uglier doctrine gets added before and after the gospels (the jesus part) there is some argument that some of the verses jesus supposedly said were added even later after his death than the original gospel texts were, and they added in some stupid bullshit. I think the resurection was added later.

Jesus (of the text, no idea if real figure) was no pussy grabbing bully. He was the slightly redeeming part, not perfect enough to be divine really, but pretty counter cultuaral considering the times, and even today. Todays more liberal/progressive morals i think are better.
Also he could have saved many problems and 40000 denominations down the line if he was clear and specific about what afterlife there was and how people qualified.

Problem is christianity is like vodka, tasteless but mixes well with pretty much anything (progressive civil rights, dangerous nationilsm, creepy cults, making suburban middle class mums feel special, capatilsm/socialism, mysogny, genocide a few times, etc etc
Also has quite a kick that can sneak up dumbfucks, one minute your sitting in your weekly social club, next minute your chanting and handling a snake and your neighbours are outside wearing white sheets.

It's not strong or clear enough on any one message, so people just read their favorite books 9/10 readings.

....Okay, I'm going to point this out in terms that you can, hopefully, understand.

If someone speaks English but not French, French will make no sense to the English speaker. This is not because French doesn't make sense, it's because the English speaking person is ignorant of how French works.

Study means the difference between "French is stupid!" and "French makes no sense, why do the numbers work that way, aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaghhhhhhhhh! But hey, I can understand that other person now."

You say that Christianity is a religion that entirely revolves around being a selfish asshole to everyone. Well, the same logic used to justify this statement can easily be used to justify the exact same statement but with "atheism" subtituted.

Furthermore, in your call to start an atheist terror group against Christians (which is the only thing I can assume from your context of "fighting back against Christians"), you fail to realize one disturbing truth: The alt-right movement that helped Trump get elected has a disturbing amount of atheists in it. And they tend to behave exactly like you.

Anyone who criticizes something they refuse to research on the grounds that it "doesn't make sense" is a lazy idiot.

You have less understanding of Christianity than most Christians have of atheism. That's how bad your understanding is.

I'm not saying you shouldn't criticize Christianity. Not in the slightest. But it's obvious now that you don't want to actually criticize Christianity. or Islam for that matter. You're too lazy for that.

You just want to feel superior. That's your entire motivation. To feel bigger and better than the "unwashed masses" with the barest amount of effort involved.

And that is why you fail as an atheist, as an intellectual, and as a human being.

BTW, "pontificating," that is, being a pompous, dogmatic fundie is as much fun as reading DJS. It comes from the Latin "pontifex," meaning "pope," because while you sit in judgement on many more people than the Pope ever has, your prizing of emotion over reason makes you far closer to the stereotype of religious people you like to portray than most religious people I've ever met.
