Considering the way that "incels" make everything about sex, I sort of feel like it could be classified as a sex addiction, even though they aren't getting any.
Then again, that would mean giving legitimacy to their stupid made-up word and condition.
Incels are people who view everything in the most cynical light possible, and then wonder why they're depressed all the time.
What really scares me is that I could see a younger version of myself being suckered into their ranks. Not much luck with girls, shitty job, and so forth. Thankfully, the community wasn't around back then, and I had pretty strong social support IRL. Pisses me off to think how this community misleads and screws up other people.

I think, if they consider long enough, a number of folk can admit they might have fallen into the trap. Young, insecure, not part of the popular clique, not a successful romantic. The recipe is a little too easy, and that may be why they got so big so fast once the Gamergates had opened into a hellmouth of insanity and those on the edge were reinforced by the darkest ones.
Two things helped me: Being Bisexual meant that even if I was unlucky with love I could realize it was just that I was bad at it, not that a gender was against me. I did get better. Now I've been dating a (male) college professor for over six years. Also, having friends at all, friends not connected to romantic endeavors, Meant I wasn't an isolated loner. I wasn't in a popular clique, but I was in one. A nerdy one but one that gave genuine support, plus friends I gained after going to college and just in my hobby groups. Some helpful sub-things, I was never opposed to pornography and masturbating, which these idiots seem to hate; I had a support network in fandom culture; and I had a general sense of social responsibility which would have been critically violated if I started throwing slurs at a gender. I have a mother, and a sister, and a niece and gobs of cousins. It would be stupid to believe even half of what these chucklefucks say.
No, I don't. Getting pregnant is not fun, having my friends and family worrying about said relationship is a pain, and I'm the kind of person who says good looks don't last, give them ten to twenty years and they may well be miserable by that time.

Then why has my wife been with me for 18 years? I'm certainly no "Chad," she doesn't want to be used & abused, and our relationship works by being based upon mutual trust, respect, and love. My wife has a much lower sex drive than I do, so trust me when I say she's not just using me for sex.

"Incels" do have a couple boogeymen they huddle around in their hate-filled sub-reddits and chans telling stories about; they're called "Chad" and "Tyrone" and come to steal "females" from them, especially the mythic "Stacy" and "Ashley".
Don't forget the infamous "Normie" who's always rubbing their relationship with a woman in the incels' faces.

I possibly could have seen myself getting close, since when I worked in law enforcement I often asked myself, "Why do these nice girls stick with their loser boyfriends who are in jail when there are plenty of decent, hardworking guys like me out there who would love to have a girlfriend?" But I don't think I'd ever have gotten into the full-on hatred of women like these incel idiots have. I realized that my problem was that I wasn't in enough social circles, so I wasn't getting out and meeting anyone. And the reason some women stick with loser boyfriends is that they themselves aren't perfect and may have self-esteem issues, thinking they can't do any better. Even the "Stacies" who want to do nothing but fuck "Chads" all day (even if such a thing exists and isn't just totally made up in the minds of incels) may be women who don't really know what they want in a relationship. I couldn't have fallen into the same trap that incels do because I know that all women are different, and I was never paranoid enough to think that they operate with a hive mind to fuck any man but me.
But you keep forgetting that "Normies" are "beta orbiters" because their wives and girlfriends don't look like "Stacey", Thomas.

Yeah, I'm wondering, too. I tend to think I've been always far too honest with myself, and always knew it was me doing everything wrong(and not only with women, I had no male friend either). But you can't be sure. Those incel forums are a trap for people who could end up well(happily married, father, with a nice job, as far as I'm concerned - and I even had an opportunity with a very sexy woman I had to bypass, because I was married).
