From ages past, writers have always written and reminisced about their youth and the energy, romance, and happiness they experienced during it. Even when Hitler was the leader of Germany, he wrote to his childhood friend saying that his teenage years were the best part of his life, despite being incel.
You're too old to make any new real memories in any way. The biggest thing you can do is save up money to go visit the beach or some shit and pretend you had a good time. If you're anything like me, all your memories are of TV shows and video games you played during your childhood, and you feel homely when you find a soundtrack to one of those old games or something.
That's it. That's all we've got in life. No memories, a dusty room with nothing in it.

I'm 39. I just freaking love the band Queen, almost to the point of obsession. Two nights I'll never forget as long as I live are when I saw Queen + Paul Rodgers in 2006, and Queen + Adam Lambert in 2014.
(And I just gotta add, I had heard about the collaboration with Lambert before I had ever heard him sing - since I just didn't watch American Idol - and I remember thinking something like "my favorite band, with an American Idol guy???? No!!!1!1!". But, I gave it a chance, checked out his solo music, even heard him with Queen a few times before I saw the concert...anyway, he's now one of my favorite singers of all time.)

I`ve got both and actually lots of my video game memories are of playing some coop or turn based hot seat with my best buds, hell one of my very first memories is of me playing an awsome and super long session of a polish talisman(which in itself is of course a board game, but it makes the point) ripoff with some friends, I even remember I had the dark knight. There is nothing innately sad or pitiful in spending your time on things you like and enjoy.
And I'm nearly 30, just completed my tour abroad and ready to fight for whatever is left of the Constitution.

Also, if you've been suckered in by the "high school is the best years of your life" bullshit, I'm sorry. They're not. They're just a speedbump before growing up and actually making happy times.
Also, 31 and still finding things that make me happy. Most of my best years so far have been since I turned 21, and things are looking up. Hoping to make new positive memories at a fur con next week. So you keep choosing to be miserable. The rest of us will carry on having fun.

I'm just glad that it looks like my son isn't going to grow up to be like you, since at age 7 he already had a girl in his first grade class ask him to go on a date, and he had another girl over to our house to play for the evening. He's doing far better with girls at age 7 than I ever did.

Have fun! Fur cons provided some of my best memories. Ahh, scavenger hunts, the Cabaret Fur Le Dance, and meeting my very closest best friend quite by accident after recognizing a character he had drawn.
Do these people get some kind of psychochemical reward for making themselves feel bad? I've heard of anhedonia and depression, but these folks appear to be cultivating that mental state. Anyway, enjoy your mental flogging.
He is partially right, in a certain light youth is wasted on the young. I can look back and realized I wasted a lot of time I could have used better. But it is never too late to make new memories, and better yourself. Which is something I realized a while back and am pushing myself to do. It took a major event to realize there were parts of myself that I didn't like. So I decided to change. I turn 40 this year and am in the best shape of my life, still learning and experiencing new things. Not happy with how you lived your life? Find what you want and go for it

I have plenty of great memories from childhood, because my childhood was almost everything I could have asked for. I got to see things, do things & go places. Now that I'm 38, I have to make my own memories. I also make a point to enjoy even the mundane things, like seeing a movie with friends. Later on, Mr. Crimson Ghost & I are hitting the local watering hole to indulge in some bangers & mash. Your mental photo album may be empty, but mine is full & I plan to add to it until I'm in the ground.
Or you could just keep making new memories. I get it, if you're inclined to melancholy you might wish to live in the past. But reminiscing shouldn't stop you from just enjoying today. And I've got all those other guys beat: I'm 73, and looking forward to each new tomorrow.

Really? I have heard many more accounts that the teenage years were hell on Earth, and that people are SOOO happy those years are behind them.
Hitler was "incel"? It's pretty common for teenagers to not have had sex yet, silly. You have to go quite a bit into your twenties before you are in any way odd for not having had sex yet.
How old are you, dearie? I've 47 and I make new real memories every day. Sitting in my own garden, listening to the birds and dreaming of coming spring is a good time for me.

I'm fairly certain Hitler had too many screws loose to give a single shit about all the sex he didn't have in his teenage years, especially so much so that he would have specifically brought it up in letters - "oh yes, the oppression of the Jewish menace is going well, and we've entered Poland unopposed so far, by the way did I mention I never had sex as a teenager?". Especially since, as much as no sane person in the world cares about Hitler's sex life, he was with Eva Braun when he was actually leading the country.
