Harry Potter revolves around witchcraft. Whether real or pretend, the bible is clear on witchcraft. Have nothing to do with it. Whether you think it's pretend or for real. The bible doesn't differentiate between that, and neither should you. I understand it may be difficult to let go, I have had to let go of things I loved so that my walk with God would continue to grow well. But honestly, the sooner the better

Harry Potter is a better read than your Bible. It has better characters, a more engaging plot, and more creativity than your 'good book' by miles. I'd be willing to wager that a fair few Christians don't even read theirs; they just buy it and think they're saved. Stop chastising a hugely successful series just because it doesn't pander to your god.
I'm pretty sure the bible requires you to execute witches.
The bible -"witchcraft isn't real, but you should probably kill witches anyway just to be safe"
I'm not sure if I should be glad or not that my favorite fantasy series of books, Piers Anthony's Xanth, doesn't have anything like the mainstream popularity of Harry Potter...because if it did, fundies would have a field day with it, really. ;-)
Harry Potter is somewhat of a Christian allegory; he even (SPOILER, SPOILER) "dies" and comes back to life again.
The Bible is a name, and should therefore be capitalized, you illiterate fool.
The sooner the better - what? There is no punctuation, so it looks like you're not done yet.
Why not let go of the Bible instead, and enjoy life in the here-and-now?
Blah blah blah... Harry Potter is just fiction. If you can't have a little fun reading fiction then I don't want to have anything to do with your religion. Besides, Harry Potter is quite tame compared to Faust or Stephen King, yet I don't see you fundies pushing to ban those books from your local library.
I have to laugh at every fundie who calls Harry Potter evil.
The Bible said slavery is fine.
But Harry Potter is anti slavery, in the words of the book. Just read Goblet of Fire.
You know Hermione Granger, S.P.E.W. The house elves.
Harry Potter is a Christian allegory.
I think the worst thing with the Harry Potter books is the way some of the kids are treated by their teachers. It's way beyond bullying, it's downright child abuse.
The Bible is pretty clear on treatment of poor and sick people too. It's definitely not "ignore them and let them die"...
@Titania
Ha! Good point.
That reminds me of something I remember quite well from my youth (Dating myself here! lol)...the whole "obscene lyrics" controversy about the rap group 2 Live Crew and their "As Nasty As They Wanna Be" album. Various people were trying to get it banned completely and so forth. Of course, the controversy just made thealbum a huge seller, while the "clean" version they made utterly bombed.
To steal a line from the title of pro wrestling figure Eric Bischoff's autobiography, controversy creates cash.
Confused?
