Normie coworker offers explanation as to why I'm not socially successful.
I've been the elephant in the room at my workplace for several months. Nobody talks to me, and I don't talk to them. I clock in, do my job, and clock out. I tried reaching out to a few of them socially at first, but even the men gave me Stacey glares (the "why the fuck are you even talking to me right now" look) whenever I would try to speak to them. They also organized get-togethers outside of work without telling me, so I could see the writing on the wall. I gave up on trying to make friends and started focusing solely on my job.
I'm sitting in the break room tonight, and Chad walks in. He starts talking to me out of boredom, and then he asks me if I'm going bowling with everyone this weekend. I tell him "no", and bluntly state that people here don't seem to like me that much. Chad feels pity, so he sits down across from me and says this:
"Piece of advice. You seem unapproachable. Nobody wants to talk to you because you seem a little unfriendly. Just saying. If you're more confident and you smile a bit more, I think people will start to warm up to you."
Re-read that sentence, and replace unapproachable and unfriendly with "ugly", and replace confident with "good-looking". Now we have a near-perfect translation of what the normie was actually trying to say. He obviously knows I'm excluded, but he hasn't clued into the actual reason why. It can't be my face putting people off, it's just my "unfriendliness". What a jackass.
