Pharaoh Bastethotep

This does not make any sense.

The Angry Dybbuk

I'm glad I'm not the only one who just plain doesn't get it.

It's about Net Neutrality, firstly, for those unsure, and secondly, the activity absolutely did fucking happen, you kumquat. In 2009 ISPs basically extorted Netflix with threats of slow service. That's not counting all the ways ISPs have a tight iron grip over the infrastructure of the internet through lobbying and shady behavior. The 'Free Market' doesn't apply to Verizon or Comcast or the rest of them because it's literally impossible for anyone to compete with them.

Not to mention for the scant couple of years Net Neutrality has been in place, I have heard literally nobody complain about it making things harder for anyone. You're just pulling nonsense out of your ass cos Regulation=Bad and Corporate Overlords=Good

Skidie

Just jump into the mouths of the ever hungering corporation, won`t you? There was never ANY problem with net neutrality aside from the ISPs whinning, as they predictably would.

creativerealms

You only hate net neutrality because Obama. You don't even know what it is.

Right! Assuring net neutrality is like traffic lights. Who needs them? Traffic lights are a liberal plot to control my life and take away my God given liberties, Amen! The government has no business telling when I have to stop my car. But no, they just put up a traffic light, let it go red and green, and expect me to do what it says. THIS IS COMMUNISM!

The free market failed.

Musicalbookworm

Free market fundamentalism: the fear that somewhere a consumer might actually a smidge of protection.

What is it with fundie cartoonists?
I used to think Jack Chick was about as bad as it could get.

Used to.

@Philbert McAdamia:
At least it's not Branco indulging in his "slutty ogre" fetish.

7/15/2017 11:42:27 AM

P.E.T.F

I don't get it.

@ Philbert McAdamia
@ Pharaoh Bastethotep

Let's not forget that young upstart Adam Ford.

Demon Duck of Doom

Honestly, if the government isn't gonna maintain net neutrality, the websites need to. By any means necessary. The ISPs need to be taken down a peg.

Citizen Justin

I don't think this is a fundie cartoonist so much as three images where various people stick their own writing on it.

I can't apply this 'person wrecking his own bicycle' meme to just any topic but I think it's fair to say neither can 'Liberty Memes'.

Anyone who believes we have had a "free market" since a time before Lloyd's of London was founded is an idiot.

Anyone who thinks we have a "free market" is invited to buy conflict diamonds ... or make the attempt.

From the Sci-Fi; "Moretsu Pirates"...:

...to the Reality:

https://www.digitaltrends.com/outdoors/cyclotron-hubless-smart-bike/

And when real life technology can do better via Science Fact; it having a rather nasty habit of becoming so from Science Fiction: and those wheels on Marika Kato's bike - probably made of extremely light yet ultra-strong (and look how sharp they are too, maximising their aerodynamics*) materials can do worse to analogies than mere sticks, therefore...!

And considering the setting of "Moretsu Pirates"; and the ship she commands, the Bentenmaru: it being a rather old ship - yet can survive plasma storms during hyperspace jumps - I'd say that even for mundane items such as bicycles, they'll have come up with materials that are as near as dammit indestructible: certainly bike wheels such as what Marika has on hers.

Moral: Never argue with someone who used to work in a bike shop. And who is a cycling enthusiast.

*- Also, bikes with these kinds of wheels:

Your call.

The image itself is an old meme. I was submitting the words.

PHIL O'MACEDON

Thank GOD George W. bush didn't listen to those idiots who told him to regulate the financial industry a bit more in the years before 2008! That would have been bad for the economy!

Mister Spak

What does he think he's saying?

I thought maybe he was anti-net neutrality, but even assuming that, I don't know what he thinks he's saying.

Kingston Communications - now KCOM - were the first to use digital exchanges: in 1989. The first in Europe to use optical fibres in their phone network.

Even though Hull City Council sold their existing 51% holdings in KC in 1999: up to then, the only municipally-owned phone company on the planet, it's still the only phone company in existence not owned by what is essentially the monopoly in Britain: BT.

BT can't control the telecommunications - certainly internet - system in Hull. Essentially a monopoly that destroys what BT represents: a monopoly. Meanwhile in the rest of Britain, Sky, Virgin, PlusNet etc. As far as BT & their shareholders are concerned, the 'Free Market' fails.

Not seeing anyone in my locale complaining about KCOM's broadband service here: yours truly included.

'Net Neutrality'? What's that?
