I’ll happily argue for it. I should have been educated in single sex classrooms. You know what it’s like to be a 17yo boy with a hot girl wearing a tank top and tight shorts sitting a few feet in front of you suggestively twirling her hair with her finger? Do you think that kind of environment is conducive to paying attention to what the teacher is saying?

Boys who actually have balls are poorly served in mixed-sex learning environments, and for more reasons than the very important one I referred to above.

Pretty freakin' awesome, that's what it's like...

Aww, poor Bill. The little snowflake should be entitled to solitary confinement because females oppress him, what with them being alive 'n'all.

And yet, I've never heard any guys complain. Either way, it's your problem, not the girls.

Bob Dole

I remember Price mentioning that he had wet dreams as a baby, so either I'm naive about sexual development or he's a candidate for some hormonal disorder.

Just Along For The Ride

So the boys who share the classroom with girls without having a problem with being distracted don't have balls? That's a pretty snide way of bullying boys into seeing things your way, isn't it? If they're happily working away regardless of having girls in the room, then they're evidence that mixed-sex classrooms are fine. I'd suggest you're the problem, not the girls. Get over yourself.

Doubting Thomas

I've been out of high school for nearly 30 years, but yes I remember those days. It was a lot more interesting than having the classroom be a total sausage fest.

Well, Bill, I know what it's like to be a 17 year old, extremely horny bisexual girl surrounded by hot classmates of both genders. But I wasn't raised by wolves, my parents taught me to be respectful of other people, so I can't say I've ever experienced being that intensely creepy or misogynistic.

Citizen Justin

The wisdom I have received from various teachers (my parents were teachers) suggests that boys try harder and behave better in schools when there are also girls around.

Also, what King of Rhye said.

If your opinion that men's ability to pay attention would be challenged by a newborn hamster were actually indicative of healthy adults I could go Solid Snake, dump a Playboy mag on the ground, wait for every man on the block to gather around it, then smash and grab my way across town without anybody with a Y chromosome noticing because somewhere in town boobs were out.

People like you are why girls in school have such restrictive dress codes. Not only do you lack self control, you encourage younger males to lack self control.

I did just fine in public school, thank you very much. Admittedly, I saw most other students as "students", just like I see my coworkers today as "coworkers". Not as sex objects. I don't deny the odd high school crush, but that hardly distracted me from learning. And I'm sure I'm pretty typical.

Happy Atheist

As a gay guy who went to an all-boys school and nevertheless got top grades, I raise issue with your hypothesis.
