Every time a norman speaks and tries to look intelligent I remember that they probably believe females were actually oppressed at some point and just start laughing
When barbarian armies were rampaging and death was a hairsbreadth away at all times, femoids were hiding behind the men, saying nothing. You have several historical instances of females banding together to INSIST men act like men and defend them.
Yet the very instant Europeans finish colonizing the globe and it becomes safe for females to poke their heads out, suddenly here they are, screeching "I'm tired of being oppressed, I want equality." The female gender is, and has always been full of manipulative, disloyal, unappreciative trash.

Well, we know you fail history forever. Do I really need to list all the warrior queens, women who disguised themselves as men, and women who followed the camp in many roles and took up arms in the place of fallen or injured soldiers. Many others would have done the same had they been allowed. Oh, and the nightwitches would like a word with you.
Approximately 25% of Samurai warriors were women, and 30% of Roman gladiators were women. Many other cultures found ways of allowing both sexes into "atypical" roles, even if it was generally frowned upon, because wasting talent is a bad idea.
Of course, most misogynists hold up Athenian Greeks as exemplars of "natural gender roles" because approximately 0% of women were allowed to be much of anything. But they forget that most men in that society considered "dominant elder male, submissive teenage boy" to be the ideal sexual relationship.

Huh, didn't know that there were female samurai and gladiators, thats cool, but where did you find the numbers on the gladiators, because from my, rather quick and shallow, search,it made it seem like female gladiators were considered rare and exotic.

...I admit those stats may be a little exaggerated; I was just throwing it in their faces.
About 30% of tombs known to be gladiators were women. In the past, they simply assumed that they were all men and didn't bother to measure the skeleton to make sure. That doesn't say much, however. Only upper-class people had tombs, and upper-class men were strongly discouraged from becoming gladiators. It's possible that some upper-class male gladiators may not have wished to be remembered as such. Women in general didn't have easy access to combat training, especially within Rome itself. Therefore it's entirely possible that they were rare, consisting almost entirely of upper-class women who could afford private combat instruction, while the majority were lower-class men, because the picture seen from looking at just the tombs is badly distorted. Going entirely by historical records, this does seem to be the case... but those could be distorted too. We don't actually know.
"Samurai" refers to the medieval Japanese noble class. Most had at least basic combat training, but not all were dedicated warriors. While roughly 1 in 4 of the dedicated warriors were women, it seems most women didn't engage in actual combat outside of emergency situations. Their main job was to protect the households while the men were away. If an army had a significant female presence, it was usually because they were running low on male warriors.

Thanks for all the information, I didn't know anything about that stuff previously, which is kinda embarrassing cause I usually consider myself pretty good with history, but well, at least I'm a bit better now:).
