Proof positive that all groups have their psychos.
Buddhists is mostly peaceful but allows violence in self-defense.
Unfortunately; Some freaks in Buddhist leadership positions have twisted it into "Pogroms against innocent people are awesome because a few professing their faith were brutal dillweeds".
Tibet even once had a reputation as a brutal, feudalist dictatorship where the Buddhist Monks and Lamas ruled in the least "Buddhist" way. To the present Dalai Lama's credit, he was going to try to remedy all that but then the Chinese got in the way.
Sadly; Even Buddhism can be twisted into a violent thing....LOOK WHAT HAPPENED TO THE PEACEFUL, UNCONDITIONALLY LOVING AND FORGIVING FAITH-PATH CALLED CHRISTIANITY! The most gentle and peacenik of the Big Three Abrahamic Faiths is ironically the one indirectly responsible for the most brutality, bloodshed, infighting, genocide, imperialism, sexism, homophobia, etc. in the past 1700+ years!
The problem is that these paths have self-defense provisions for violence or are an offshoot of a less-peacenik religion (even absorbing the former's scripture and mythology) but not extra stuff written to close up the loopholes that monsters in charge can twist and abuse.
What REALLY "gets" me is that this latest persecution of Burmese Muslims gets the stamp of approval from a woman who was considered a great Burmese Civil Rights hero who was herself persecuted by the cruel Military Junta before her. I could never understand why the persecuted would become persecutors. You'd think they would be more empathetic.
