I can point out two examples that show that this isn't the problem he thinks it is:
Cuphead was a game based on old cartoons. It contains all of the strange conventions of cartoons. It's a big hit, despite focusing more on accuracy for the time period than making the game less sexist. But because they focused on making it a good game, lo and behold, it was a good game.
A Hat In Time has voice lines from JonTron, the man that the other game, Yooka-Laylee, decided to publicly remove from the game, for perfectly legitimate reasons. People have threatened to not buy this game if JonTron was in it. Yet nearly everyone who picked it up loved it. Yes, even those who disliked the fact that JonTron was in it. Why? Because it was a good game. Heck, the only reason it didn't get huge press was because it released within a month of Super Mario Odyssey and Sonic Forces, and I'd be surprised if a sudden release like A Hat in Time holds any attention after those two hit the market.
The uber sjws do not have the authority you think they do, buddy. Most people just happen to know a sexist piece of garbage when they see it. And wouldn't you know it, a lot of radical individuals tend to make tasteless garbage that no one can love, except loving to hate of course.
Edit: I almost forgot DOOM! That game practically glorifies violence, and that game's well loved by almost everyone!
