Quote# 140390

In 2004 a crazed wife (aka, The Blue-Eyed Butcher) in Houston, Texas, tied her alleged abusive husband to a bed, stabbed him to death from head-to-toe 193 times, and then the insane courts only required her to spend 10-years in prison. She buried the body beneath the house, which was discovered a week later. The family dog had gnawed his hand off. If that had been a man who murdered his wife, he'd been given the death penalty or life in prison at a minimum. Women are given unfair leniency in the court system. Stabbing someone to death 193 times in anger is not self-defense. There are countless Americans serving life sentences for first-time drug offences!!! Something is VERY wrong with America's hypocritical, biased and rigged court system.

Twenty years, Davey. The first jury sentenced her to 25, but there were mistakes made by counsel.

So you got that wrong. Or lied.

The prosecutors asked for more than 45.
The defense insisted that the husband was a cocaine-using abuser.
I noticed you completely skip over the possibility he was abusive. Why, oh why, would an abusive ex-husband not think that ws significant?

He was not tied to the bed. That claim from the prosecution was disproven by the dead guy's defensive wounds.

His ex fiance confirmed that he was abusive.

He was overfull of cocaine when autopsied.

And he was buried in the back yard, not undrr tge house. Not a BIG detail, but it is clear that Stewart is not that familiar with the case, not as much as he is fond of his outrage at false details....

Citizen Justin

A pity that the former Mrs Stewart didn't do something similar and get let off with a short sentence in an easy prison, continued custody of the kids plus help and support to re-enter society at the end of it.

That sounds to me like only half the story. I'll point out to you that the number of times he was stabbed don't really matter; dead is dead. And I dispute your contention that men are usually sentenced more heavily than women for spousal murder. Let your fingers do the walking through the criminal records, and I suspect you will find many, many men who got off very lightly, some of whom were drinking buddies of the judges.

Oh right, Davey. Perhaps she had already served time, being with a psycho like him! She may have been afraid of more violence. I'm just guessing, because I'm not familiar with that case.

However, you don't need to be her defense lawyer, to consider such things.

She's still serving time. She's been up for parole twice, both denied.
Davey is just wrong. Again.

Doubting Thomas

Well apparently the abuse was a mitigating factor.

And when I first started working in law enforcement, our jail housed a guy who shot his wife to death in front of their kids. He ended up getting just 5 years for that.

So...what's new then?

@Doubting Thomas

It's terrible what happens between people, who once loved each other. Some feminist websites make a big deal about women who are murdered by their partners, like Destroy the Joint and the Red Heart Campaign. However, a smaller number of men are also victims of DV, sometimes fatally.
