Quote# 140413

Peter: Given many of the same people that refuse to serve us cakes have voted in a serial adulterer as president we aren't treated equally.
But both those activities go against Jesus principles for all morality and the comparison with the second one is beyond contempt.

Martin: You can hardly complain about adultery when you promote sexual immorality. And the alternative they had was a woman who not only connived at her husband's serial adultery and also undermined those young women he took advantage of. Not only that but she also campaigns to kill babies. Trump certainly appears the more moral of the two.

Peter: What part of Jesus teaching that all morality is based on love God and agape love of neighbour are you finding so difficult to grasp? To say trump evidences this and merits support on that basis - ongoing support from white conservative evangelicals - is risible.

Martin: Trump certainly provides evidence that he cares for the poor in the USA, whose jobs are being taken by illegal immigrants, and helpless infants aborted for no other reason than the convenience of the 'mothers'.
And what does Clinton do to show her love for God and her neighbour?

Peter: You do realise the election is over? The support for trump from white evangelical religious conservatives is ongoing and nothing to do with clinton.
When you disgracefully try to scapegoat "illegal immigrants" for economic problems you are closer to home. So much for giving two hoots what the bible, staunch defender of immigrants, has to say.

Martin: And the whining from the left is never ceasing. That people reject your politics is because it doesn't work and it isn't compatible with Christianity. Why shouldn't Christians seek to influence the president?
It's a fact that illegal immigrants do take work away from the poorer strata of society. Curiously the left seem to have given up on the working man these days.

'Grab'em by the pussy' is moral?

Grey Rook

@Malingspann: Naturally. The Republicans are by definition Good People and can only do Good Things. The Democrats are by definition Bad People and can only do Bad Things. A Republican did this, ergo it is a Good Thing that must be supported and encouraged. If a Democrat had done it, it would have been a Bad Thing that must be opposed and fought even unto death.

The cult is so utterly tribal and hypocritical that this logic makes perfect sense to them.

Doubting Thomas

Trump certainly provides evidence that he cares for the poor in the USA

Oh wait, you're serious. Let me laugh even harder....

9/12/2018 5:52:00 AM

Oh yea, Trump cares so much for the poor that he drastically cut ACA benefits for the lower-income and zero-income citizens, lowered taxes for the rich, and wants to dismantle the entire welfare system (which a large number of his supporters depend upon)...

Now, in a time when a major hurricane is bearing down on us, we find that Trump has siphoned off money from FEMA and given it to ICE so that he can separate more children from the their refugee parents. There is no known outcome for this. There is no plan. There is no schedule to restore the children to their parents. There is, in a word, no governance. There is nobody steering the ship of state.

We passed up the chance to have someone who was extremely well prepared for the task to put a doddering fool with anger issues and a massive ego in the Oval Office. His "morality", though reprehensible, is not the worst of his faults by any means.

Dr. Weird

That people reject your politics

Yeah, they rejected us so bad we only won the popular vote by three million.

Fundie bakers in Northern Ireland who - after losing their appeal - are legally forced to make cakes for those who just happen to be of the same gender. Also:

Your call, Fartin.

Why shouldn't Christians seek to influence the president?

But I wasn't aware that kissing somebody's ass so hard that you get sucked into his colon up to your shoulders is called "seeking to influence".

9/12/2018 12:55:32 PM

To be fair, the best way to influence a dumb narcissist (and especially someone like Trump) is to brownnose so hard that your whole face isn't recognizable anymore. Problem is that his evangelical supporters don't do this with any apparent thoughts of wanting to manipulate him, they just do it because they actually love him that much, like the cult that they are.

9/12/2018 1:43:24 PM

@NonProphet: Sadly, there are people who actually believe that: take away the "handouts", leave them to their own devices, and the poor will have an easier time standing on their own two feet. Unless they're lazier than the usual lazy poors, in which case they deserve to suffer and die.

Also; Jim-Bob and Mary-Jo are having a hard time because of the actions of OLD RIGHT WHITE GUYS, not fellow citizens with a darker hue or different take on Deity.

These boobs idolize "Old Rich White Guys" (or O.R.W.G) SO MUCH that they are utterly incapable of considering that the source of their economic depression is those same O.R.W.Gs.

O.R.W.Gs are behind all that Union-Busting, Deregulating and Outsourcing....and these idiots blame it all on Lamarr, Jacinta and Ali....who are in the same boat as they are!

I got this graphic over at DailyKos; it really sums up the whole sordid situation:

9/12/2018 7:39:30 PM

So, how much did this paycheck increase by, again?

9/13/2018 4:54:58 AM

I love how the evangelicals read some sort of a mandate into a minority of the popular vote electing Trump. It's pretry clear that many of them regard people in the cities as somehow worthless. I've even heard a conservative suggest that Hollywood getting nuked would be good for this country.

Then he said he was just kidding. What a funny fellow.

9/13/2018 5:40:48 AM

The beginning was just a very conservative point of view. One is allowed to be very conservative, even if I strongly disagree. But "Trump certainly provides evidence that he cares for the poor in the USA", well, nope. That's a pure WTF.

9/13/2018 6:56:32 AM

I remember that pic. I'm also saving it to share elsewhere.

I might even draw a cartoon version of it, someday.

I also noticed how Martin barely addresses or refutes Peter's points concerning The Bible's MANY teachings on helping the poor and Christian unconditional love.

It's like they KNOW what Jesus REALLY said but prefer to plug their ears and belt out "The Star Spangled Banner".

Finally; For those of you who are regulars at TVTropes, you may have heard of the Trope "Evil Makes You Ugly"....
....Well; I think Donald Trump is a literal real-life example....

....Waddaya think?

I made a new artwork (click to make really 'YUGE')....

....Illustrating the above.

9/13/2018 8:08:23 AM

I would disagree. I think what the Trump supporters see and what they want is the righthand picture "reality". A fat, decaying old white guy with a stupid hat. That's who they are, who they tell themselves is superior, who their lazy selves say they want to be: eat fat, be lazy, no sports, bitch all day, be American! A *real* American can afford to be fat and lazy: he's an American! Superior in all ways. Only lower humans have to be healthy, exercise, work hard, be compassionate, pluralistic, tolerant.

Yes, deep down they want to be the one in the left picture, but they know they never will be, so they resign themselves to being the one on the right and convince themselves that it's better like that. So when someone comes along who's like they themselves are in reality, who takes power and smacks down on the rest of society, they deify it.

Sure "build that wall" is a lie, and they know it, but their whole life is a lie, so who cares? "Damned right I'm fat! I'm an American!"

9/13/2018 10:13:40 AM

Ya gotta point!

I also find it hilarious that a bunch of grumps who hate "Urban Coastal Elites" basically decided to "stick it to them" by voting for one of them....because nothing says "Defender of Jim-Bob MacTeabaggar of Dogpatch, USA" like a wealthy (albeit very mediocre) Queens-born Real Estate magnate from Manhattan.

Weird people.

What do you think of my "Evil Makes You Ugly" observation?
