Quote# 14201

(In response to over-the-counter availability of Plan B for women 18 and over, but prescription only for teenagers)

"It's just irresponsible for the FDA not to see that," said Carrie Gordon Earll, senior analyst for bioethics at Focus on the Family Action. "What this is going to do, very likely, is give a free pass to older men who want to prey on younger girls for sexual behavior. Plan B, in essence, becomes a free ticket to prey on teenage girls."

Wolf O'Donnell (SWHQ)

Oh yeah... Giving them a contraceptive would make them more susceptible to being raped... Just like giving someone a Bible makes them more susceptible to being persecuted. We should stop persecution of Christians by destroying all Bibles!

Can't add anything more poignant than what Wolf said.

Wait a minute. So the teenagers have to have a PRESCRIPTION for it, and 18 year olds and older don't, so men will prey on the ones who won't be on it? Is this another one of those \"Men only want to rape women\" attitudes?

Good Lord! So in the fundy view that sex is only to procreate, we see they think that the purpose of rape is only to procreate.

Mind you, most fundies can't tell the fucking difference between the two and haven't had a wet cunt since they got baptised.

Libkitten

Older men who want to prey on younger girls couldn't just use condoms, buy her the Pill, or plain not care?

P.S. - What I thought this quote was saying was that older men would buy Plan B for under-18's, who would then have sex with them.

Redhunter

It's all one big slippery, slobbery slope iddenitt?

Tell me, how come fundies think they have a free pass to push their fucked up fears and prejudices on others? I'm revoking your fucking pass as of NOW!

Prager

How exactly? Please explain.

Libkitten, that's how I read it, too.

However, the note here says that the pill will be available over the counter to WOMEN 18 and older. It says nothing about it being available to males, of any age.

Mister Spak

\"Plan B, in essence, becomes a free ticket to prey on teenage girls.\"

Are you saying this never happened before Plan B was available?

Napoleon the Clown

And before you know it, why, they'll let women vote!

CousinTed

If most rapists actually cared about the after-effects on their victims, they probably wouldn't be raping people.

Hadanelith

What CousinTed said.

I didn't think the only thing stopping pedophiles was the chance of getting their victims pregnant. I didn't think they cared that much.

8/26/2006 5:19:44 PM

Matilde

And do you think that the only thing they care is if the girls, whose dignity they don´t care, are going to have children?

8/27/2006 7:09:05 PM

Blue

Because older men who want to prey on younger girls won't do it unless she buys contraception?

8/31/2006 3:23:26 AM

Rahab

Yeah, but remember, these are the same people probably arguing against the vaccine for HPV on account of it making premarital sex less life-threatening for women.

1/27/2007 2:34:17 AM

clockworkgirl21

Well...what's wrong with men being able to buy birth control pills?

6/22/2008 2:03:57 AM

Ebon

The fuck kind of sense does that make?
