(JTA) — A Cameroon government minister said that the Jews brought the Holocaust on themselves because they wielded all the economic power.

The African nation’s government disavowed the comments made by Jean de Dieu Momo, the deputy justice minister, in a primetime interview on public television. Momo warned the opposition leader, Maurice Kamto, that he was leading the native Bamileke people to a fate similar to that of the Jews during the Holocaust, the French news service AFP reported.

“In Germany, there was a very rich community who wielded all economic power,” he said. “They [the Jews] were so arrogant that the German people were frustrated. Then one day, a certain Hitler came to power and put them in the gas chambers.”

The government of Cameroon distanced itself from Momo’s comments.

“The Government of the Republic of Cameroon wishes to point out that [Jean De Dieu Momo] was speaking on a strictly personally basis,” Communications Minister Réné Sadi said in a statement, the English-language Journal du Cameroon reported. “The government of Cameroon strongly deplores the irrelevant comments of [Momo] and completely dissociates itself.”

China and Cameroon established bilateral relations on March 26, 1971

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/China%E2%80%93Israel_relations

Israel and China have developed increasingly close strategic economic, military and technological links with each other. Israel maintains an embassy in Beijing and is planning to open a new consulate in Chengdu, its third in Mainland China

China's status as a potential world power has prompted Israel to maintain closer ties with China by integrating China's global influence with Israel's pragmatic economic management, political stability and its regional strategic importance in the Middle East. Beijing has appreciated Israel's political stability and diplomatic ingenuity and sees the Jewish state as one of the regional pillars for securing China's influence in the Middle East and the entire world

So you're going to say the same to the face of Xi Jinping personally, Jeans the God Moron...?!

So... Africans hate Jews now?

At least he doesn't deny that the Holocaust happened.

Similar things have been said elsewhere as a prelude to genocide. Good on the government for deploring this statement.

@ Blair

Antisemitism has long been a thing in South Africa, a feature of the system under apartheid and now continued by politicians like Julius Malema.

@Hasan Prishtina

Were Jews considered white in apartheid?

@ Blair

Most were considered white as the great majority had come from Eastern Europe, but there were also non-white Jews who were assigned to other groups. The authorities were not crazy about Jews given a) the National Party’s history of antisemitism and b) that a high proportion of whites prominent in the anti-apartheid movement in South Africa, such as Joe Slovo and Helen Suzman, were Jews.

Unfortunately for Mr. Momo, the Thousand Hills Radio doesn't recruit anymore - strangely, he was lawyer in Arusha.

@Anon-e-moose

There's also the Battalion d'intervention rapide, this and this

It is unclear how many are in service, but IHS Jane’s has seen official Presidential Guard documentation showing the force’s Reconnaissance and Support Group includes a Musketeer platoon, as well as fire support, anti-aircraft, and anti-terrorist units.

The force also uses Israel Aircraft Industries (IAI) RBY Mk.1 and RAM Mk.III armoured vehicles, a single example of which was seen deployed near the prime minister’s offices in Yaoundé by IHS Jane’s.

@Hasan Prishtina

More informations about the whole Bamiléké issue can be found on this blog post and this one.

And I would have thought the whole Zimbabwe thing would have made him lose voters.

Just someone is arrogant and rich, doesn't mean you should kill them and all of their friends and family.

Dunno, if Israel has good relations with Fascist China, then maybe they should be shunned.

@Yamamanama

And I take it that Trumpistan, by virtue of having poor relations with Fascist China, is just wonderful in your eyes?
