Homeschooling stinken rocks, no pot dealers, no people picking on you, no morons. On top of all that you get to learn at your own pace rather then the pace of the slowest kid in class. So instead of spending a whole semester of basic math we get about a week of reveiw and then learn new stuff(yay!!) Plus you dont have to listen to the teacher condemn Creation but say evolution is real.

No learning to deal with life's challenges, such as these.

This is indeed a good thing, assuming your parents actually bother to make sure their teaching is up to curriculum standard and they don't miss anything out.

In other words you don't have to listen to people who think different things to you, or pay attention to their evidence, thus condemning you to a limited worldview and an inability to integrate with a diverse society.
So, basically you say that love thy neighbour and help the weakest ones, to serve the others as Jesus wants you to, is a lie. Go ahead. Of course, if you asume Creationism, never intend to be Einstein.

yeah, good, but this begs the question: who will teach the kids to deal with tough situations such as bullying? as someone who had to suffer a fair share of fools picking on me in grade school, i do find it interesting.
I'm going to state that not all homeschooling is Christian brainwashing. I have a great friend who was homeschooled without the whole brainwashing thing. Homeschooling can be bad, but it can be used for good, too.

Homeskoolin' stinks on the rocks?

No, experiences dealing with uncomfortable situations, difficult and diferent people, and temptation. One learns more in school than just waht's in the curriculum.

many public schools have programs for working at yuour own pace, and there are often many different levels of classes, particularly in math, available.

Yes, that is a problem. Homeschooling allows ignorant and biased person to teach their children only their ignorant and biased views. As I understand it, some parents are actually teaching their offspring that some all-powerful "sky-daddy" created everything and that the ToE is utter nonsense. Can you believe it? I think it's a form of child-abuse.
I am a proponent of secular homeschooling. However, I think parents take a perilous risk if they assume that their children will not be exposed to drugs and bullies. My kids are outside at 4 o'clock with all the same peers that their traditionally schooled friends have.
I do agree with the poster about pacing. However, it is important to pace and not "gloss over."
Now for the last bit... If you are homeschooling and not teaching your children subject matter they will need to know to be accepted to and do well in college, then you are doing them an enormous disservice. I'll give you an example. I'm an atheist, yet I know it is important to eventually teach my children about the bible and Christianity. They will need to read and understand Western Literature and its many biblical allusions and the role of the church in history.
Spending 2/3 of your day in the same house, having little outside influence, and no dissenting opinions doesn't neccessarily make you better, just a lot more sheltered from reality. The success of homeschooling depends on the teachers you have. Not all parents are qualified to teach all neccessary classes.

You have to deal with things like that when you get a job.
"then the pace of the slowest kid in class."
Well thats good. No one is going to have to stop and wait for you.

Thats because your parent's obviously don't care about what you can use in the real world, as long as you know the bible your fine.

I'm gonna have to go with Brain_In_A_Jar on this one.
Because two parents know more about everything than ten qualified teachers with different specialised subjects. Yeah, right.
But it's worth going through life as an uneducated dolt if it means not being poisoned by the "lie" of evolution, right?
Aren't you lucky that the world always needs burger flippers.

Have fun with College
If you're the only one in class then you're also the slowest one in class, you'd be able to figure that out if you spent more than a week on math.
I've met some very intelligent people that were homeschooled, Jesus_Freak would not be one of them.
Confused?
