Quote# 18541

Stability in Iraq ultimately depends on spreading the message of Jesus Christ, the message of peace on earth, good will towards men. Everything depends on everyone learning about the birth of the Savior.

So...to teach them about Jesus, peace on earth, and goodwill towards men, we're going to keep bombing the shit out of them?

12/23/2006 2:27:43 AM

I thought the message of Jesus was \"Death to the infidels.\"

12/23/2006 2:32:58 AM

Or, in other words, kill 'em all and let god sort 'em out?

12/23/2006 2:51:46 AM

Wrong, that will cause more instability. The best thing is to build a time machine and make sure Bush never got elected.

12/23/2006 3:03:29 AM

Dear Congressman Robin Hayes,

Get the hell out of my state.

12/23/2006 3:07:30 AM

Also I think they already know about the birth of jesus. So wouldn't that be mission accomplished.

12/23/2006 3:09:31 AM

Suuuuuuuuuuuuuurrrreee it is.

12/23/2006 3:31:27 AM

Nothing brings peace like trying to change the religion of an entire country, especially if it's a Muslim nation surrounded by even more Muslim nations.

12/23/2006 3:41:24 AM

Ed - Well, Jesus said he wasn't here to bring peace, but a sword. And, what better way to show Jesus that you hate everyone (thus being worthy to be his disciple) than to bomb the Iraqis back to the stone-age?

12/23/2006 4:21:07 AM

The Watcher

Yeah, that'll solve everything. Why don't you go over there and try?

12/23/2006 4:27:47 AM

Wouldn't that just piss them off more?

12/23/2006 4:52:57 AM

David D.G.

This person's reasoning (to use the term very loosely) lies somewhere on a line between \"Hadn't you better rethink that?\" and \"ARE YOU NUTS?!?\"

Not only that, but someone desperately needs to introduce this \"congressman\" to the concept of the First Amendment separation of church and state -- and, more importantly, to the foolish voters who put him into office.

Napoleon the Clown

Because we all know how much lower the violent crime rate is in the Bible Belt, where Jesus eats supper with every family, vs. more secular places, like Europe.

12/23/2006 5:25:05 AM

... a Congressman said that?!

Why do people in the US elect such total fucking morons?

12/23/2006 6:32:59 AM

It´s very innocent to think so. To begin with, they are muslims, and second, they have already been told so in a thousand different forms, including the one you mentioned.
It´s very naïve to think that a very complex problem as Iraq is, long before the invasion but DEFINITELY, aggravated by the invasion, is going to be solved in such an easy way. Look at Rwanda, Congo or Angola, don´t you think they were preached?, what about El Salvador?, the number of dead priests in the hands of the righteous and rightish and leftish guerrilla is very eloquent how effective your idea is.

Tiny Bulcher

R., North Carolina.

Colour me surprised. Who elected this idiot? Come on, own up now.

12/23/2006 10:19:42 AM

Yeah. It's worked so well so far, hasn't it?

12/23/2006 11:14:06 AM

12/23/2006 11:39:23 AM

When when WHEN WHEN can we institute a minimum IQ/Constitutional literacy test for Congressman?!

Oh, BTW Congressman Fucktard, muslims already know about Jesus. He's revered as a prophet in Islam.

12/23/2006 2:23:38 PM

Doctor Whom

People in the Islamic world have already found out all they need to know about Christian love. Ever hear of the Crusades?

Oh, and I guess the Catholics and Protestants in Northern Ireland need to learn about the birth of Jesus, too.

12/23/2006 2:52:59 PM

Nope, sorry, it doesn't.

12/23/2006 7:37:47 PM

Fed Up

They're Muslim. Although, I guess it might work better than the current disaster...

12/23/2006 7:49:41 PM

Old Viking

Go get 'em, Congressman. We'll have our fingers crossed.

12/23/2006 10:00:19 PM

And besides, Jesus does appear in Islamic scripture. He's not their lord & savior, but he is one of the important prophets (Abraham, Moses, and of course Mohammed being the others)

12/24/2006 12:21:17 PM

D Laurier

Ok so 1300 years of outspoken arab christian bishops in what is now (or was) Iraq spreading the christian message of how worthless everyone is, and how only sucking up to jesus can save them from the punishment they all deserve for being born. that wasnt enough?,

Sorry bub, the message of your jesus has never brought stability to anyplace, Why should Iraq be any different?,

And NOTHING depends on learning about your birth of your imaginary saver
