[It's all very postmodern of you to claim that science is just faith, but it's a little silly.]
Don't put things in my mouth that I never said. I never claimed that GW was religion. I merely said that liberals treat it with the same fanaticism Islamofascists treat their religion. I'm sorry you're too blind to see it.
You, my friend, WANT to believe in GW. So you'll accept anything eco-nazi "scientists" throw your way.
You are being more than a little silly. You're being downright superstitious.

GW = global warming, I think.
I think part of the difficulty we have with global warming is that there are some who are dogmatically opposed to it, so standing in a rational middle ground and trying to examine the evidence (even if that evidence invariably leads to exactly what the worst of the doomsayers say) means being shunned by all.
The poster has a valid point in some respects, since there are some people who are quick to take only the evidence that agrees with their opinion and deride the rest, but in my opinion she goes badly wrong on two points:
(1) She is, I think, merely projecting an attitude of "fundamentalism" on the person she's addressing, simply because that person has a viewpoint diametrically opposed to her own, and thus assumes that the other person is determined to hold to that position, regardless of evidence. (She might be right, but I don't think that the accusation is supported here.)
(2) More importantly, the fact that she refers to "eco-nazi 'scientists'" (with scare quotes around the latter word to imply that they are not even scientists, but still ARE eco-nazis) demonstrates the poster's own extreme position, as well as her fundamentalist commitment to it. (Note what I said above about some people accepting only one kind of evidence and deriding the rest; SHE is the one doing it here!) Her opponent may or may not be a global warming "fundie," but this poster sure is a fundie for the opposite stance.

Yeah, sorry Maggie... the earth is warming, and we're causing. I wish it weren't so, but... that's what our best evidence and models are telling us at the moment.
I love these crackpots who are in denial about Global Warming. Gee, the leading scientists have nothing better to do than perpetrate a huge hoax about Global Warming for no apparent reason. That makes so much sense.
I guess the video on the news every night of the ice melting at the North Pole is big hoax too. Just like the moon landing, right?
Even if you are a fucking moron and think that Global Warming is a hoax, how about this - how about all the pollution generated by all the industrial activity in this country? (And the world.)
Do you think that crap is GOOD for the world? You should visit Elizabeth, New Jersey sometime. Really, go there and smell the air.
All of the Global Warming denial is just a big push by pro-Capitalist types who don't want to see their stocks go down. Fucking scumbags.
PS Jesus sucks. (Had to have some religious content in there.)
Remembering the African pastor who claimed he could walk on water and subsequently drowned, I'm picturing Maggie neck-deep in rising seawater, chanting, "Global warming is nothing but superstition, global warming is nothing but supersition."

I gotta admit, videos of artic ice melting are about as much evidence for the existence of global warming as images of the Virgin Mary in a tortilla are evidence for the existence of God.
I'd rather see real evidence, like long-term sampling of ice cores or globally representative temperatures (not just temperatures in one part of the Arctic Ocean), than an "Oh my gawd it's environmental armageddon!!!!11one1" news piece.
Actually, Global Warming is not even debatable, scientists on both sides of 'the debate' agree that Earth is warming up. The actual legitamate debate is over WHY the Earth is warming up and if it will continue to do so or if it is just a cycle.
The only scientific debate about "GW" is whether humans cause it, and if we can still stop the increase or perhaps even reduce the warming. And, the first point is more or less decided upon.
Islamofascists treat their religion with the same fanaticism that Christofascists like Maggie_T treat their religion.
We HATE "GW", silly, but our self-preservation instinct forces us to deal with it.
We're not the superstitious ones, dearie.
There's also no reason to deny the GW issues outright scientifically or scripturally, this is why the denial movement is uniquely centred in the Bible Belts fundamentalist centres.
Because the Republicans (the 1%)own you through waves of government funded church incentives and gave you your marching orders on GW, Minimum wage and healthcare.
Do you 'belie ve' in Donald Fart, Mags?

After Wiggy had a meeting with the 'Fuhrer' of 'Eco-Nazis' Al Gore the other day, Dumbya is positively JFK or Lincoln, compared to the worse -than silliness already exhibited by your Retard-in-Chief to come.
...and hopefully you'll have realised your error and he'll be just like Daddy Bush: an irrelevance at least.
The best news I ever heard on GW was when the BBC over a year ago announced they were adopting a policy of ignoring 'both side' arguments in news programs and had other European media agencies agree to follow suit.
Debate shows yes (which Europe has more of anyway)but not news programs. This included Evolution stories. This wasn't a knee jerk or partisan reaction, they studied it and noticed, to paraphrase, it was always just pitting educated experts against nutters.
This is something we should have noticed over here also. Seasoned scientists with thousands of studies and a consensus within the disciplines of rigorous fact checking, retesting and reevaluating, vs: Fucking uneducated priests, politicians and partisan media figures.
There is no reason to bring those clowns to the table of serious discussion, all they are doing is muddying the waters to confuse the public for corporate agendas.
You, my friend, WANT to believe in GW
No, I don't. I would LOVE there to evidence that all our data was wrong and the earth is not steadily increasing in average temperature, but all the data we have says the general temperature is going up and is most likely caused by human activities. If that is wrong please show us the evidence, we will all feel better
Confused?
