Quote# 20873

Try hard, if you will, to perceive the worth of atheism and if you make a proper assessment of its worth to any portion of mankind, it will be revealed to you that atheism is a demonic ideology or religion that is utterly worthless, to say the least. It darkens the minds of its subjects and bring curses upon every facet of human life.

The two basic responsibilities every person of mankind has are to love God more than all else and to love mankind. Atheism accomplishes neither one of these responsibilities. It blasphemes against God and brings harm and death upon mankind.

Atheists are not fit to be parents; they are not fit to be employed in any portion of any society; they are not fit to be any kind of leaders in any society, nor are they fit to serve in any area of public trust. Atheism makes every person who embraces it unfit for any good work.

Atheist are not even fit to live. They have forfeited the right to life by virtue of being unfit for any good thing.

The decline or absence of morals in any society can be traced to atheism or the like. All the problems in every facet of society the world over can be traced to atheism, or denial of God and disobedience to him. The rapid increase in crime the world over can be traced to the same. Atheism has nothing good to offer any society.

Atheism is so heinous and does so much harm that there is desperate need for legislation against it. It is not an ideology, philosophy or demonic religion which should be allowed to exist and flourish in any society. Every atheist should be regarded as high criminals by all governments who have no right to live on the earth.

Good job there, signing in the names of dead people. I'm sure they're rolling over in their graves.

On the plus side, zombie Darwin.

Strange. I thought Rome was rather powerful, until it forfeited itself to the Roman Catholic Church? What about the great Egyptian empire, which lasted until said Romans brought themselves in?

Papabear

Yeah, yeah, yeah. Fundie good, atheism bad. I've heard that before.

I have not forfeited any of my rights, Bobby.

Many of the names in Bobby's \"signed by\" list are my \"heroes.\"

Yeah, I was going to say, this guy needs to read some serious Decline And Fall Of The Roman Empire.

What a hate filled little person you are.

What is it that causes fundies to hate and demonize anyone who doesn't share their very narrow world view? I think it can only be because they realize on some level that their views are false. But, they lack sufficient mental resources to replace the false ideology with anything of lasting value. They just have to keep feeding their self-delusion or else admit that they are wrong and that they may have wasted years of their lives, and making that admission requires more courage than they can muster. Therefore, the only way they can prevent a psychological meltdown is to build up strawmen to rile against.

I'd pity them ... except that they're so nasty. So, the only thing left to do is to hold them up to ridicule.

I think this guy needs a new award. I'm all for \"Decline And Fall of the Roman Empire Award\".

Ten points for knowing who A J. Ayer is, but -20 for forgeting Bertrand Russell and George Bernard Shaw.

Wait, I'm lost. Why are the dead freethinkers signing this, again?

Also...waitaminute, the guy who posted this is crediting it as a parody. I've always been under the impression this Robert T. Lee guy is for real. Anyone know?

I'm sure some of Apollo's priests said the same thing.

The FSM is far more tolerant of other faiths.

as for why dead freethinkers are signing this; simple. The rightwingers love getting stuff without unconsent. Even from dead folk.

What a peculiar collection of 'signatories'. Reminds me of the Monty Python Philosophers Song.

Too bad you refuse to extend your definition of \"mankind\" to include atheists.

I am wondering at the signatures as well. Most of the signers were atheist or agnostic, which makes no sense. And even if there is some contrived rethorical point in making a list of famous dead atheists sign an attack against atheists, he still got it wrong -Descartes was a fairly orthodox Catholic and Kant a slightly less orthodox Lutheran. Machiavelli was probably a believer as well.

I've never heard of this \"John Stuard Mill.\" Is he related to John Stuart Mill?

Robert, with this post, you not only solidified your place on the koo-koo clock, you broke the koo-koo clock. Did you ever consider that your choice of religion might be wrong? I reexamine my faith (or lack thereof) all the time.

Heck, I'd say some governments have the right to live on Earth.

The decline or absence of morals in any society can be traced to atheism or the like.

Studies have shown that atheists and religious people have pretty much the same morals and ethical beliefs. The U.S., which is one of the most religious of the modern Western nations, also has one of the highest serious crime rates. Religious people are more likely to be in jail than atheists. Where is RTL getting his information?

2/19/2007 6:17:58 PM

And to top it all, he signs it with the names of a bunch of dead \"atheists\".

Did he fail to realize that Descartes was a Christian?

2/19/2007 6:19:08 PM

CousinTed

What about the problem of rampant hatred of religious minorities?

And all of the atheists listed have made major contributions to the overall wellness of the world, if you're going to badmouth atheists, at least mention the evil atheists like Stalin or Mao.

Sandman

I understand his standard fundie rant at the begining, but I don't get the \"Signed by\" thing at the end. Is that supposed to be sarcasm? Not a one of any of them would in any way agree with what RTL just said.

It´s funny that this guy has mistaken Machiavelli, Kant and Descartes, very devout men, and labelled them as atheist. And half the guys in this list are agnostic, rather than atheist. Anyway, something he could have learnt from them, taking into account that they´re philosophers, is to use logic and reason. He has just used a simple compilation of ad-hominem arguments with no logic liaison and with are cyclical and gawdy. This guy has a brain problem, I guess.

That's very persuasive, Robert. Now may I get back to my game of Solitaire?
