Actually, the person who must've posted that up probably read it somewhere and is not qualified to speak of that.
The Vedas give the distance of earth-to-sun (straight line distance) at a value that coincides with modern Scientific measurement. The Vedas do not say 'that the moon is 800,000 miles farther from the earth than the sun". Whoever this info is quoted from is wrong, and obviously know nothing about the Vedas.
The Vedas actually states that the moon is at a higher pane than the sun. Picture the solar system, not a birds eye view, but picture it as a cross section (longitudinal / side-on-view). This is what the Vedas meant.
I am a real Hindu, and I believe that man has been on the moon. In fact, after Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin, I think, 8 other people have been on the moon. For "Hindus" to disagree with this and state some FAKE quote from our scriptures is pathetic.
The Vedas speak a lot about Science. Vedas do not contradict modern Science, and modern Science does not contradict the Vedas. After all, science is science and it is all the same.
Some people read passages, extract a point without understanding it, and paste it on the internet (their awful and WRONG interpretation). These people are not "Hindus" and they are NOT qualified to read the Vedas.
It's like a High School student teaching Rocket Science at PhD level. The student may speak with certain terms, but his interpretation and understanding is 99% wrong.
