Quote# 23224

Always go to God before the Doctor, then and only then we know if it is allowed to remain that God has allowed such a thing to exist. Sickness is from sin and the fall on all men. But through Jesus Christ we are all healed but we have not necessarily been given that healing in our present bodies. We still die.

We do know this. All healing is from God. But God does not always heal our current bodies. In all things Trust God.

Klaus

I rather be healed by a doctor, because this life is the only one I know of. Also, I am quite sure that every sickness has a cause different from an abstract concept of sin.

Savrin

If every fundie did this, there would be a lot fewer around.

Pix

I trust God to give me the sense to call a doctor when I get sick.

4/6/2007 5:46:56 PM

Aethernaut

Now that there is just sick in the head.

Strife767

If there was a God, he would be a huge asshole by that logic--what sin has a child born with a birth defect committed? You worship a sicko.

Mike

Yeah, like God will heal my encephalitis and control my seizures without meds... -_-

4/6/2007 5:59:27 PM

Doctor Whom

\"But God does not always heal our current bodies.\"

No: God works in the God plane of existence, where, conveniently enough, nothing that happens is verifiable.

BurntBush

I did, but it still burned when I peed, so I went to the doctor and got a shot.

Puck

Good luck getting an appointment with god. \"Read two psalms and call me in the morning.\"

Trust the imaginary chump who supposedly can heal all, but won't because he doesn't feel like it.

Works for me. I'm so glad I don't sin enough to be sick.

And a brimstone enema for BHiles!

Mike (#218089) -- you have encephalitis?

Is there anything we can do for you?

(I've been through viral meningitis and while it's rarely fatal, it's truly awful -- and I really DO empathize with you, buddy!)

I thought sickness wasa from the fall? Geez, fundies need to get their story straight.

James

Explain hereditary genetic disorders then smart boy.

4/6/2007 6:52:18 PM

Jezebel's Evil Sister

Yet another reason to despise fundies: They assume that a person who is sick and/or disabled deserves it because of sins. Damn heartless wretches!

4/6/2007 6:59:07 PM

Whoever

So in other words, God heals us unless he doesn't.

4/6/2007 7:01:39 PM

JD

it wouldn't be so bad if they practiced what they preached and STAYED AWAY FROM OUR HOSPITALS.

Then medicare wouldn't be overloaded.

Funny how he/she adds a little escape clause for that eh? \"oh but god said I should go get fixed there. yeah.\"

real strong faith you've got there. yup.

According to your philosophy, this advice would preclude ever going to a doctor; if god healed you then there'd be no point, if he didn't then you'd apparently be supposed to suffer - asking the doctor to cure you would constitute rebellion against god's will.

Since there is no verifiable, statistically valid evidence that your god ever heals diseases, it is evident that, if he exists, he just wants us all to suffer and die. By extension, your beliefs also imply that all doctors are in rebellion against your god whenever they attempt to heal anyone, and the godly thing to do would be to let their patients die.

Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord: And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up. --James 5:14-15

Just follow those directions the next time you come down with something fatal and you'll be with Jeebus in no time.
Hallelujah!

... God does not always heal our current bodies.

I'll choose the doctor option, then, and explain it later if I have to.

4/6/2007 8:16:24 PM

ZugTheMegasaurus

\"Trust god, but he won't heal you.\" That's a good method there.

4/6/2007 8:36:05 PM

anti-nonsense

If only more fundies would take this advice, we'd have a lot FEWER fundies.

4/6/2007 9:39:15 PM

But God does not always heal our current bodies.

Which is why he allows medicine to exist.

4/6/2007 11:05:38 PM

If you truly trusted in God, you wouldn't go to the doctor. Read your Bible, BH.

They tried that in the Middle Ages, and things didn't go so well.

I don't much care for doctors...but god has done even less for me.

4/7/2007 5:13:47 AM

So god uses sickness to punish us when we misbehave, meaning he must want us to stay sick, meaning when doctors try to cure us they are defying god, meaning as they often succeed that doctors are more powerful than god.
