If I was atheist I would commit suicide. There has to be a point to life.

Our existence is the point of living. We can frame our existence in a religious framework or a non-religious framework, but ultimately, our existence is the point of living.
But of course, you couldn't have thought that out, Eric. That's because you don't think.
My boyfriend, my friends, my family, my interests, my future... those are my points in life. I don't need a make-believe character to ruin them.
With all fairness, when I fell out of my religion, it was the worst experience of my life. When I realized there was no God I seriously didn't see the point to anything. I considered just offing myself multiple times. I can defiantly sympathize with this guy.
According to him the point fo life is it's all a twisted game where we are the pawns, puppets and playthings of an arrogant, self -obsessed, egotistical megalomaniac in which the objective is to devote your life to him and spend every waking moment feeding his ego. If you loose the game, then eternal suffering awaits. That is more optomistic than atheism because...?
Also, I don't get how God would give life a point. If he knows everything then he already knows everything you're ever going to do, so why not skip the whole life bit all together and go straight to heaven/hell do not pass go? To me that makes life pointless.
There has to be a point to life.
Well, yeah. And you have to find it for yourself, not be told what it is like a mindless drone.
EricTheRed does raise a good point, even though he does it in a silly way. It's as Albert Camus said "There is but one truly serious philosophical problem and that is suicide. Judging whether life is or is not worth living amounts to answering the fundamental question of philosophy."
And it seems that EricTheRed has answered the question for himself. Without his "master", he would neck himself. I find it sad really, that he cannot find a reason to live outside of his genuflecting.
Why does one need a magic Sky Wizard to give one's life meaning? I draw my strength, my will, and most importantly, my reason for being from within. Not from some book of myths. Not from a preacher telling me how I'm going to hell. From my heart, and the core of my being. THAT'S what keeps me going, numbnuts.
Yes... living it. Not wasting it on religious meetings, talking to the air, going to church, worrying about tripping up over sins and thinking that if you have fun, you must be punished.
What a totally stupid comment.
If you were an atheist, your point of view would be completely different.
Clownshoe asshat.

Time & again, fundies like you say you hate this world, and you want to be with your God boy. Remember: suicide being a 'sin' is merely Catholic dogma, and you Protestants hate Popery in all it's forms, right? Well then. What are you waiting for? Follow Jim Jones & co's and the Heavens Gate-rs example.
Go ahead. DO IT FAGGOT.
Or you could just stop being an atheist, and find a belief that better suits you. Like I did when I quit being a catholic and became an agnostic. It's a lot easier than you think, and no sharp objects, sleeping pills, or ledges required.
There has to be a point to life.
And? What is the point to life, "EricTheRed"? Would you mind to tell me what it is exactly?
Interestingly, very few religious people have an answer on that. They think that because they have "god", they therefore somehow have a point in life. But why and how exactly their belief in this "god" provides them a point in life ... usually they start to think heavily when asked directly.

And you will find it as soon as you can admit that it is not eternal.
There is no such thing as eternal bliss. Just being conscious for billions of years would drive you insane, Eons would slip past you like the Lord of the Rings trilogy condensed into three frames.
You would become a being with no beginning or end. A terrifying monster so unrecognizable that your former self would fill his BVD's if he even IMAGINED it.
You would literally become an H. P. Lovecraft style "Great Old One".
I'm reminded of the Zen story about the student who complained to his teacher, "I feel so discouraged. What should I do?"
His teacher replied, "Encourage others."
"There has to be a point to life."
There is.
I've been making mine all by myself for two thirds of a century.
Go fuck yourself you pathetic, worthless shit stain.
Bye!
Then make your own point(s) to life.

Videogames, books, anime, Adventure! *rainbow*, snarking at anyone and everyone, NOISE, laughing at fundies and, most importantly, having fun.
Those are my points in life, and I'm as happy as.... a thing thats really happy shut up.

That's funny, Eric, because I JUST read a post, here, where the person had become convinced that The Rapture was just about to happen, so they stopped making any long-term plans. There was no point to life, in their view, beyond scraping by for the next year until God called them up.
The post was 10 years old.
I fear that this believer has been in a holding pattern for the last decade. During that time, though, MY kids have gone to college. One's getting married. His fiancé is pregnant. Everyone in the household has a new car. I got pay raises every year... Did they ever feel disappointed by their failure to schedule the Rapture? I hope they lost their superstition.
There are plenty of points to my life. Just none of them imposed upon me by an invisible friend in the sky, near as I can tell.
Confused?
