Quote# 24138

[On homeschooling...]

I love the fact that I don't have to undo 8 hours of world each day. I don't have to re-teach science and creation. I can teach them the truth. I can integrate God into all areas and subjects.

Turn them into zombies who are not ready for the world. Way to go.

Unless you teach your children about the world, they will never get a job there. Hell, they might not even survive there after you are gone.

Ambrielle

I really wish someone would do a study on what happens to fundie home-schooled kids once they \"grow up\".

Saros A_L

Eh ambrielle, we already know. They go work for the GOP and fuck everything up.

I can just retard 'em up from home! Yee-haw!

Of course we know what happens when these retards grow up. The continue homeschooling their children and spread the ignorance.

...and THAT is why your child will never be prepared for the real world, will have not even a basic understanding of science, and will be forced to live at home with his parents his entire life.

Johnny for your homework practice, \"Would you like fries with that?\"

The real world doesn't need sheeple.

Please remain in your ancestral pens and pastures, and we'll dose you for foot-and-mouth every once in a while. There's still not much we can do for scrapie, though. If anyone exhibits symptoms, we'd have to eradicate the whole flock.

Have a nice real-world day!

Papabear

Yeah, it's such a burden having to wash the reality out of your children everyday.

The problem is that they´ll have to pay the worldly bills, when they grow up.

Skeptical: Ambrielle was asking about the homeschooling by FUNDIE parents; I only just skimmed that article, but the study didn't appear to make any distinction between secular and religious homeschooling, let alone have any close examination of fanatical religious homeschooling that virtually ignores or, worse, gives outright disinformation about secular subjects.

Skeptical

The homeschool populations in the studies were running about 90% or more Christian. There have been no data indicating contrary results in any homeschooling population regardless; the sole exception being those that were removed from other schools due to having problems there.

You might google Joshua Harris or Patrick Henry College - fundie homeschooled kids now grown are entering congress, becoming lawyers, entering the mission field, pastoring churches, writing successful books, etc. I realize that is probably a scary thing here, but there's no doubt there's a force to be reckoned with; not much \"fries with that\" going on.

4/25/2007 5:42:34 PM

Mister Spak

But your kids will have to relearn those things when they grow up and have to get a job. Unless that job involves french fries.

\"fundie homeschooled kids now grown are entering congress,\"

This may explain the screwups of the recent republican congress.

And your poor kids will end up flipping burgers for the rest of their lives because they won't have the education to pass college entrance exams. Go Jeebus!!

Mling/Rebecca

Oh yes, the glories of Patrick Henry College.

Actually, when I have kids, I would like to homeschool, too. For almost the exact opposite reasons. I want my kids to learn how to think.

folks---can i just say please try to separate your feelings for fundies from judging homeschoolers in general. i am an atheist homeschooling mom that rejects public education...not so i can inculcate my kids with different data but because as an anarchist i think education should be holistic. i don't want some government trained \"experts\" dictating every moment of my kids lives and telling them what to think/learn/believe when. public education is the enemy of free thought. i don't agree with the original posters comments but to then make sweeping generalizations about all homeschooled kids being retarded socially or otherwise is mistaken.

Skeptical: They're entering the mission field and pastoring churches? Hardly surprising.
