This is a Christian nation, not a secular one. The beauty of this country is that it shelters all people out of the love encouraged through the Bible. to stray from the foundations of our nation will result in it's destruction.

Treaty of Tordesilla.
GO!
The beauty of this nation is the "freedom of and from religion" and the freedom of speech guaranteed by our Constitution. The shame of this country is the fact that some other people do not respect that freedom for others that they disagree with, and in the case of most fundies that we see here, have NO FUCKING IDEA what the Constitution says about religion and how unimportant our founders viewed it as a "foundation for our nation"!
to stray from the foundations of our nation will result in it's destruction.
Why yes, actually.
One minor detail though. The foundations are secular. To stray from that into fundieland...
Well that sentence is absolutely right. Your first two weren't though. but hey, one out of three ain't bad compared to some of the folks we quote around here... better luck next time!
Need to remind you what on Earth the first ammendment is?. And just for the record, in which part of the Bible can we find a promotion of a multicultural society?, nowhere. In fact, unlike Babylon or Rome, they found it an abomination. Samaria in Jesus's times was hated because of that.
A multicultural society in the Bible? In my Bible God spends most of the OT ordering the destruction of the Amalekites, Aradites, Midianites, Egyptians, Anakim, Horim, Amorites, Hazorites, Canaanites, Perizzites, Moabites, Ammonites, Benjamites, Philistines, Syrians, Ethiopians, Assyrians and any number of other people whose rulers he disapproved of.
Granted fundies and evidence tend to be mutually exclusive but here they are really nutty. Fundie history revisionists have a problem with their "America was founded as a Christian nation" myth; there is no evidence for it. Nowhere in Americas founding documents did the founders say "we are a Christian Nation" nor do the words Jesus, Bible or Christianity even appear. The best they can point to is the phrase "Nature and Nature's God" in the Declaration of Independence, which is a Deist term, not a Christian one.
1. Learn to use capitalisation and apostrophes please.
2. I seriously doubt that the gradual decline in religion (which, praise the Lord, is happening as we speak) will result in any sort of destruction. Quite the opposite, if you ask me.
The beauty of this country is that it shelters all people out of the love encouraged through the Bible. to stray from the foundations of our nation will result in it's destruction. Originally, your nice little nation practiced slavery. It's only when you 'strayed from your foundation' that you started treating Africans as fellow humans.
How does that old quote go?
"When the President is sworn in, he puts his hand on the Bible and swears to uphold the Constitution. He doesn't put his hand on the Constitution and swear to uphold the Bible."
Or something like that.
Whatever it is, this guy's obviously never heard it.
The U.S. is, and was founded as, a secular nation. To stray from THAT foundation will result in it's destruction.
Some of us do not require the Bible to encourage our love. Too bad about you.
This is a secular nation, not a Christian one. The beauty of this country is that its founders learned from the Christian nations about the danger of the hatred encouraged through the Bible. I agree completely with the last sentence, though.
WHY is he putting his hand on a bible anyways? Considering all the lies, genocide, and other crap in there, Is it really a good idea to have them swear with that as a symbol of their promise?
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
