[Re: Hotel places Gore's global warming book in night stand instead of Bible]
Bad idea. Anytime you replace God with anything bad things happen. They'll get theirs. God won't ignore this.

So it's bad to replace godly things once they're in place, but it's okay to not use them in the first place (most of the world doesn't given they don't believe in the same god)? Your god is weird. Are you sure you're not just making these things up based on your personal feelings and inserting the wraith of your all powerful buddy to make yourself feel better over something you can't do anything about?
Stupid fucking gOd throws a bitch fit because a hotel puts someone else's book in the rooms. Boo fucking hoo. I think they should put that latest book by Christopher Hitchens.
Here's a suggestion: byob.
So because there are a few less Gideon Bibles in the world, God's going to go crazy and smite people down?
Anyway, why can't hotels give people a choice of what to read? Just a small bookshelf with some well known books...the Bible, the Torah, the God Delusion...
Sounds like a good idea to me.
If your God ever gets around to taking his petty revenge on those who perpetrated this Satanic, atheistic, ToE-beliver outrage, you just send me an e-mail. I'd really be interested in that.
P.S. That would properly be "Jesus and Me." It's back to 3rd grade for you.
Put "The Assault on Reason" in one of the hotel rooms, and some fundie will read it thinking that it's a Christian Right progress report.
(And, in a way, it is...)
Yeah, those pesky eco-hotels...
What's God going to do crash an oil tanker or two into a marine park, or are you rednecks just going to have a rally in your pick-ups?
What bad things happened to those people that replaced 'punishment for sin' with medicine?
What bad things happened to those people that replaced 'God rolling out the night like a blanket and pushing two light sources across the sky - one to rule the day and one to rule the night' with astronomy?
What bad things happened to those people that replaced 'creation' with cosmology and physics and chemistry and biology?
What bad things happened to the guy that swore to keep the OT laws of God - the Romans fucked him up gooood!
Yes, your dead on MeAndJesus! Because God CLEARLY thinks that the location of Al Gore's bible is crucial to the fate of the universe! It's up to you to save us kiddo, huss 'em sinners! [/sarcasm]
So uhm... does my bible being in the deepest, darkest, who-knows-where-I-put-it, corner of my library mean I'm doomed to rot in Hell for all eternity?
BlackWolfe: Naah, I just ignored it (still do) along with everything in it.... but going on MeAndJesus' logic and all.... can't ever be too certain.
Of course, given one minor detail, MAJ'd probably say I'm a living desecration.
Doing what?, giving Gore more right?, because the weather is changing, that's a fact. And they're not replacing God, they're replacing A BOOK.
If I was a hotelier, I would put a small selection of books in each nightstand. I wouldn't purchase Bibles, but if the Gideons donated them I guess I might put them in the rooms as a courtesy. (But probably not.) I'd probably steer away from anything too politically-minded, just because I don't want people to get pissed off and take it out on my staff, but a selection of fiction and business titles, and maybe The Green Book or something. I'd have a lending library, too. What can I say? I just like reading. :)
Confused?
