Perhaps you missed the memo Ben. FREEDOM OF RELIGION gives people the right to have relgion as well as not have religion. Most of us here would fight just as hard to keep that right for fundies of any flavor(even though we may disagree with them) as we would for atheists and agnostics. It is called CHOICE and it is what we defend!

No wonder the majority of the population fears and loathes atheism with a nutter like this on the loose. Even though it's pretty obvious he's just a blowhard.

Honestly, atheists only make up 14 - 20% of the population. We could never win a war. Not now, possibly not ever. Plus Christians and Muslims love their guns. We essentially don't.
I admit it. I desperately want to live in a pure atheist society. I would love to hear about religion only in the past tense, to never hear religion being used as an excuse to torture gays, never being used to oppress or degrade women, to stop education, or to quell scientific discovery.
I would dance in the streets with this guy.
Unfortunately...it can never happen that way. We're too few and too passive; they are too many and too bellicose. We would lose.
Our only choice is a war of the mind, to spread our ideals and hope they take hold and choke out the brain-rot that is religion.
It won't happen in my lifetime, but maybe some day....

This guy is a Poe. Look at his profile and read some of his other blogs, he's a Christian.

Omg, Ben! lol He's just being sarcastic, guys. Ben's really awesome. (yes, i AM one of his myspace buddies) He's most likely just venting his frustrations because really, who ISN'T frustrated with all these fundies and their stupid notions? It's okay to rant every now and then....
Boom Shankar, Ben! :D

Actually, technically this can't be fundie because it's impossible for an atheist to be fundie. Fundamentalism is defined as "the interpretation of every word in the sacred texts as literal truth " which can't apply to atheists. Just because it's violent ramblings doesn't make it fundie. Maybe "Psychos say the Darndest Things"?

Given the use of "SINagogues," I call poe on this one. While it's funny in having a role reversal to point out to fundies why their actions/thoughts are bad, all it would actually accomplish is "proving them right." Fundies are great at blatantly ignoring what doesn't fit with their view, and using anything, no matter how wrong or out of context, to support what they want.
Not sure if I should tell Ben "nice job, but it's lost on your target audience," or "nice mirror you have there."

"Definite trolling. Two big clues: "killing the unborn of the religious right", an obligatory swipe at abortion, and the use of the word "SINagogue" - the average atheist doesn't use the word "sin", it's a religious concept, and they don't also single out the Jews for being especially sinful."
Good eye, Brain_In_A_Jar. I'm thinking the same thing... hard to tell exactly, though. Could just be a psycho who's going for shock value.
And KaylaKaze, you're slightly off, there. Fundamentalism does not only apply to religion, it applies to any belief system, moral code, political stance or personal ethos.
Since this guy is embodying the negative stereotype of atheist ethos, he's a fundie. Or a troll/Poe. Hard to tell sometimes.

(Not really, of course, but it'd be hilarious to see them get into a crazy yelling match.)

The thing is is that he is right. Religion is about removing rationality. If you are not going to entertain rational discourse then you will never be able to see the error in your ways which means you will never change. As long as religious people remain unchallenged in their views and are allowed to raise children we will have people operating in an irrational mindset. Personally I value rationality, and as such would like to see the removal of religion. Since they aren't going to change their minds to become rational, the only other option is removal. While I don't think that war in the conventional sense is the correct answer, I think that there are means by which to cajole a response. In an anarchistic structure it would be pretty easy to simply deny them resources. I mean, if god is going to provide for them then they have nothing to worry about, right? The promotion of this feel good "live and let live" mentality just seems to be ignoring the elephant in the livingroom.

Your look on the world is to narrow. Even after religion is gone we greedy humans will find something to fight over, religion just hides people's true motives. You fail.

This is a Poe.
To fight religion, you must educate people. It won't rid them of irrationality, but it's a good start.
But since US educational system is awful, don't expect this before a looooooooooong time.
