The hammer represented the workers in industry and the sickle represented those who worked in agriculture. I have no idea what an atheist death cult is and why they'd use that symbol.

I would have thought the Ghostbusters symbol would be more appropriate for atheists.
I believe there have been occasions, in some military cemeteries for example, when the classic, 1950's-style image of the atom (nucleus with several symmetric, elliptical orbits) was adopted as a symbol of atheists. It seems a bit corny (not to mention scientifically inaccurate) today, but I can't really think of a better one in terms of mass appeal and simplicity. Then again, do atheists need a symbol? Atheism is the default state before indoctrination into any religion, so I'd say the best symbol of atheism would simply be the absence of any religious symbol.
