Quote# 32225

I do not like getting pushed around for being a Jew, and I don't think Christians like getting pushed around for being Christians. I think people who believe in God are sick and tired of getting pushed around, period. I have no idea where the concept came from that America is an explicitly atheist country. I can't find it in the Constitution and I don't like it being shoved down my throat.

Ben, as a Jew you ought to support separation of church and state. Quit kissing up to your neo-Con masters and realize that if we allow the Fundies to rule the state then the Jews are in a heap of trouble.

If someone shoves their religion down other peoples' throats (by trying to teach their religion to other peoples' kids in public schools or trying to use the Bible as a basis for our secular laws), then they shouldn't be surprised if it gets shoved back.

Poor Ben. He's having an emogency. All that money and fame and still le persecuted.

12/11/2007 9:51:04 AM

Don't be so hard on him. He could probably see what he was saying more clearly if he remembered his Clear Eyes, and then it would be awesome.

12/11/2007 9:52:30 AM

Frankly,I also have no idea where the concept came from that America is an explicitly atheist country.

12/11/2007 9:52:55 AM

What the hell.

Ben, I used to think you were too smart to believe an old strawman like that.

What happened to you?

12/11/2007 10:03:21 AM

Carbonated Margarine

moose: Good one! Hahahahahahaha!

...but yeah, Ben's gone nuts.

Would it be wrong of me to say that my first reaction on reading this was:

"Win Ben Stein's Smegma!"

12/11/2007 1:10:11 PM

Take an intelligent person, add a drop of religion, and it quickly goes to durrrrrrrrrr.

12/11/2007 1:41:47 PM

I challenge Ben to find anyone, ANYONE in any kind of power who wants America to become an "explicitly atheist country." If a teacher doesn't preach about Jebus every 5 minutes that doesn't make her lessons atheist. An atheist teacher would tell her class that there is no God, and no school district in the country pulls shit like that.

Hell, I AM an atheist, and I don't want our country to become atheist. Nobody does. We just don't want the government to shove nativity scenes and outdated "family values" down our throats.

12/11/2007 2:02:10 PM

Old Viking

If we're an atheist country I'm not getting my fair share of the loot.

Ben Stein -- Stop sucking the cock of your Republican masters long enough to hear this: "Theocrazies don't like Jews." They only use you long enough to dig your own fucking grave. Theocratic dumbasses would have your ass six feet under for daring to be a Jew in a "Christian" land. So fuck off, mmkay? For your good and mine.

12/11/2007 3:35:08 PM

Rich, right-wing republican, never probably faced a moment of real persecution in his life playing the Jewish guilt card to push a lie about the Constitution(a totally secular document) to less-than-bright fundies to forward the political agenda for his morally bankrupt party of crooks and war-profiteers by creating a sham issue of persecution where none exists. It shames both his Jewish forbears who died in Nazi prisons and Christian martyrs suffering for their beliefs in TRUE persecution around the world for him to do this pandering for his political party.

12/11/2007 5:58:47 PM

It used to be that Ben Stein was one of the few "good" Republicans. Now we don't even have that. I guess as an atheist I can't WIN BEN STEIN'S RESPECT.

12/11/2007 9:05:29 PM

I see a problem with your statement.
America is not a country.
See? Now go cry in a corner.

Dammit, I can't believe it's only been like three months since I thought of Ben Stein as being an okay kind of guy. It's not explicitly atheist, Ben, it's explicitly secular, and if the fundies get their way, you, as a Jew, are going to be one of the first to get the shaft.

12/11/2007 11:44:32 PM

Wow, Ben's really let himself go.

12/12/2007 12:56:59 AM

Wait, what's this doing here. There is actually nothing wrong with this statement.

12/20/2007 12:00:58 AM

Ben went to the deep end.

7/29/2008 8:39:22 PM

Emigrate to Israel then.

7/29/2008 9:53:34 PM

You're right that America isn't specifically an athiest country but it isn't a specifically Judeo-Christian country either.

The First Amendment implies that this country was not based on ANY specific religion.

4/8/2009 5:14:24 AM

Mr.Stein you have proved yourself well to be just another fucking stupid ass fundie.America is a secular nation. Not a christian nation, not a jewish nation, but a secular nation. No one has ever said it was an atheist nation,it's just more fundie bullshit.Atheists do not shove jack shit down your throat you guys are the ones making lying propaganda and going door to door to "bring the light of Jesus into my life"to quote the fundie who just left my house.I'm sick and tired of being pushed around for being an atheist my patience and sympathy for you and your ilk ran out a long time ago.
Lying for Jesus(or god in your case)is still lying so fuck you.

6/27/2009 11:41:50 AM

We push you around because you're a dickhead, Ben. We don't care who your parents were or where you came from.
