Man, I can't decide if this is fundy or not. On the one hand, the man is reveling in his own ignorance - probably on the assumption that the biblegod is pleased with his lack of knowledge. On the other hand, he is being completely honest, and I do not in any way disagree with the statement itself.

Oh crud. I'm reading the original post now. This guy uses the mascot of MAD magazine as his avatar, and has 'Science can take a hike' as his tagline. He may be ignorant, but methinks he has read Edgar Allen Poe.
In the middle ages, the Plague killed a third of the human population of Europe, despite the fervent prayers of believers to be spared (BTW, the ones who were spared were the rich young party people, who escaped the city to their villas - not the devout ones who crawled on their knees to the church. Try reading the Decameron). Today we can cure it with a few dollars worth of streptomycin. So much for God's preference for praying for His magic wand to help us vs figuring things out for ourselves.
BTW, if AV1611VET is a poe, he's been a pretty consistent one for some years ...

AV1611 is definitely NOT a Poe. I've been cringing at his posts for several years over on CF, and I can be sure that he is 100% real. It's scary, sad, sick, and madening, but AV1611Vet is serious. What's most unfortunate about AV1611Vet's willful ignorance is that I (sorrowfully) know quite a few fundies who carry such ignorance with the same pride and will.
Imagine sitting for years and years every Sunday and Wednesday listening to AV1611 preach to you his opinions about everything. That is basically my childhood church experience in a nutshell. My parent's cult leader was a hard-nosed, dogmatic old coot who parallels AV1611 in too many ways. And this mindset is so real and prevalent today that it makes a rational person just want to cry.
Definite Fundamentalism in a Nutshell.
Even if this is a Poe, I've actually heard some Christians with this type of belief before. They don't want to hear about things that might cause them to question their religious beliefs because then they might turn away from religion, thus condemning themselves to Hell. It's quite sad actually.

Why is he permitted to enter civilized society with such an attitude? Maybe he is less directly violent compared to a terrorist, nonetheless he hates our society FOR WHAT IT IS. He hates toleration, even if he spews his intolerance with a "gee, shucks, I'm a nobody" mannerism. "I don't have to learn anything. I'm here to tell you people about my Jesus, and I don't intend to learn anything from you." That is no more "humility" than saying "yes, I guess I did kill a lot of people, but then, I told you I'm a bad person". There is a difference in scale between his acts and the acts of a violent murderer - but the starting point of contempt for others is the same. The neighbors that permitted ethnic cleansing in the many 20th century episodes, were not on active military duty - but without their helpful acquiescence, none of it could have happened.
Sometimes this guy strikes me as plain silly, but this kind of statement is really very anti-social when you think about it.
I wouldn't be surprised if he's thinking in terms of "ignorant compared to God's knowledge".
Unfortunately, this speaks of a strand of despair. He seems to think that, since he'll never attain even slightly to God's level of knowledge, it's pointless to increase at all...
Apparently AV1611Vet believes that God gave us brains to think, eyes to see, and ears to hear, and then commanded us never to use them.

Yes, and that's the problem: you just won't learn, you wallow in your ignorance like a pig in mud, or a catholic in self-loathing.
Well, "AV1611Vet", when you want to stay ignorant, you have the right to do so.
The problem is rather: Fundies like you want to drag me and other people who don't want to be ignorant down onto your low level. You are demanding things from us like: "Read the Bible!!! Repent!!! The world was created 6000 years ago and this is the TRUTH!!! Man never descended from monkeys, we were created in God's own image!!!"
I will never surrender to your stupid ignorance. And I will fight hard that people like you won't contaminate our society and our children with your irrational foolishness.
