[Re: a rapture question... would you choose to stay behind if you had the option?]

No No No

There is nothing new under the sun. Everyone gets the chance to choose or reject Jesus as their Lord and Savior. I would not choose to stay behind even for a loved family member. In fact, my being raptured might be the thing that cements their need to turn to Christ - kind of like an "I told you so" after I'm gone.

Ah, there goes that Christian love again. I thought Christianity was supposed to be about putting others before yourself? You know what bothers me most about the whole rapture idea (other than the sheer stupidity behind it), is that it seems to breed the ultimate in selfishness and lack of empathy. What normal person would actually rejoice in the idea of rushing off to a heaven when they know in great detail the suffering that awaits those “left behind”, which could include family members, friends, co-workers. And yet the people who subscribe to this “theory” believe wholeheartedly that those left behind truly deserve their suffering for the simple crime of not following their particular brand of religion. The rapture is the ultimate revenge fantasy (second only to eternal hell). Can you RR people please explain how this actually squares with anything Jesus taught, such as loving your enemies, not judging, forgiveness (remember he forgave those who killed him), not wearing your religion on your sleeve, etc. Doesn’t your bible condemn gloating in your own “righteousness”?

I would not choose to stay behind even for a loved family member.
Then you don't love them.

Your constant haranguing about it (I told you so comment pretty well shows this) is probably the main thing keeping them sane. They may be thinking (like I am); "FUCK! So shut up and GO, already. GEEZE!"

I like how they argue about questions that in reality have no significance.

I look at it that the lunatics are finally taken to the asylum, leaving us to live normal lives.
Anyone who believes in the scribblings of a lunatic hermit in to sodomising goats deserves to be taken away.

No, I've looked, but I can't find "Blessed are the smug" anywhere in the Sermon on the Mount. Am I reading the right translation?

Allegory for Jesus

Rapture Ready members must go to bed every night and orgasm themselves to sleep while fantasizing about what an epic "I told you so" the Rapture will be. AND IT'S TOTALLY COMING SOON GAIZ, I FEEL IT IN MY BONES!
