Did you hear of the recent Incident in Great Britian where law enforcement did NOT discriminate? (Frank may have) over the course of a few months a homosexual couple (male) was allowed to take in about 18 foster kids. Several complaints came to the state about suspected sex abuse by these men, they did nothing because they did not want to "discriminate" against the homosexuals. More kids were allowed into their home and several were molested even AFTER the complaints because they did not want to "discriminate".

Lesson: sometimes Discrimination is a GOOD thing!!!!!!!!!!

citation?

Also, even if true, it doesn't mean all gays are pedophiles.

It's the standard negative association argument, one gay couple are pedophiles, therefore all gay couples are. This has been coupled with the common 'absurd political correctness' reaction to the supposed events.

I must admit though, I rarely see this argument structure aimed at homosexuals, it's usually the blacks who get targeted.

*haven't found a citation, either. Anyone?

I know straight people who've taken in kids and molested them as well. Moral of this story by your logic? No one is safe and everyone should be discriminated against.

I'm willing to bet that any couple who takes in 18 foster kids is not taking them in to molest them. If you just wanted to molest some kids why would you need 18? It just doesn't make sense.

Hey guys, did you hear about that vague reference to an incident that never happened, typically brought up to rescue an ideological position at odds with reality?

Like the one about the (boy/girl/cocker spaniel) in (England/ Long Island/ Washington/ Nantucket) who (attended a gay wedding/ played D&D/ had extramarital sex/ forgot their morning prayer) and ended up (killing their parents/ raping half the nursing home/ barbecueing their gerbil)?

The leaders of the religious right have long known that nameless fear is the best kind of fear a demagogue could hope for.

Not checking on someone because of their sexuality is not the same as not discriminating. Not discriminating is when people are treated equally, not when the minority is given preferential treatment in an attempt to make up for past (and present, in this case) discrimination.

Homosexual does NOT equal pedophile, get your head out of your ass.
Many pastors/priests on the other hand ARE pedophiles, maybe we should start discriminating THEM instead...
Do you feel your little world crumbling to bits, fundie?

I have a feeling you're making up the whole molesting part.

Unfortunately it's true - here are two contrasting accounts from reputable sources:

Telegraph

Yorshire Post

Awful as this is, however, there have been far worse cases over here, at least two involving systematic torture, starvation and eventual violent death by so called 'normal' het couples (please don't ask for citations, it would take me hours to find them!)

OT but this might be of interest to readers here -

...I always thought that, by definition, discrimination is a bad thing.

Two fucked up pedos do not represent gay people as a whole. But hey, apparently stereotyping "is a GOOD thing!!!!!!!!!!" too.

The same would have been done if the couple was heterosexual. So no, no point.

I was saddened when I saw this story when it happened. The two press reports arent really contrasting - one reports the defence's case as it happened, the other reports the convictions and aftermath.

With fostering, as opposed to adoption, it's temporary, which is why taking in 18 over time isnt unusual.

Meya's rant conflates law enforcement with Social Services (there is no suggestion of failure to act by the former once they were informed). Also the problem reported here actually *is* discrimination - it appears that the gay couple may have been more favorably treated than a straight one would have been.

Apart from the almost obligatory one-abusive-gay-couple = all-gays-are-abusive fail, meya seems to be missing the fact that one undeniable reality is that sex abusers are usually male, whatever their orientation. Hence by meya's reasoning fostering/adoption should only be done by lesbians or single women.

Sexual preference profiling is wrong, douche-bag. Just like in this supposed case it was a gay couple the ones abusing children, there could have as easily been a heterosexual couple. What they need is better research methods to investigate potential foster parents.

There's definitely a lesson in this. But I'm pretty sure it isn;t what Meya thinks it is.

And what's with the exclamation marks?

Even if they were molesting children, there are heterosexual people that molest children. Does that make all heterosexual people pedophiles? I think not.

Ok, what if the whites and heterosexuals are the molesters?, how do you protect the kids?
