Quote# 40468

Just a word of warning - I successfully discipled my family into understanding the times we're in...too well, perhaps.

My view is that the rapture will happen in the very near future. My 17 year old son had been a brilliant student in elementary and middle school, however, I convinced him of my rapture understanding. Suddenly, his grades plummeted. He lost all interest in doing his school work. Basically, his attitude is...why bother. I've been working for months to correct his understanding, but to no avail.

What can I say that hasn't already been said? I only hope this woman doesn't have any more children to destroy.

Ouch. I really feel for the poor kid. His mom's a loon AND she forced it on him.

"This should be on the top 100."

Agreed. The idiot has managed to destroy her son's mental health with her insane beliefs. Let's give Daisy Lane the parent of the year award

Wow, I guess my oldest daughter is a secret believe in the rapture - she doesn't do her homework and doesn't care about school!

I thought it was the age, being a teenager and all, but it might go deeper than that!

*shouders*

Lady, you fail as a mother! If you can not raise your kids to look forward and be hopeful for their future, you are a lousy fail! You took away your kids dreams and ideas, hopes and plans!
You know, what if the RAPTURE DOES NOT HAPPEN IN HIS LIFE TIME, or even worse, what if your stupid ass doesn't get raptured!
I'm disgusted by fundy parents!

What a wonderful parent you are (not). When your son becomes a total drop-out meths drinker, still waiting for the rapture in fifty years time, remember you only have yourself to blame.

It's a pity the bible contains that pesky "no suicide" clause, otherwise the whole damn religion might have self-destructed in a fit of depression decades or even centuries ago.

What, he didn't already know you believed that shit? You'll be astonished to learn that not every teen boy tells his mother what's on his mind. Some of them even HIDE things. For example, magazines, in my day, web sites today.
Just because he tells you the rapture is why his grades have plummeted and he has no interest in school work doesn't actually mean that's the full story. Perhaps he's discovered girls and is marinating in guilt for his thought-crime. Perhaps he's discovered he hates his teachers. Or that he doesn't believe his mothers' rants.
The world is queerer than you can imagine. Perhaps your son is too. Let us know how it turns out.

Good job, there supermom. You took a bright, happy child and transformed him into a fearful, depressed, hopeless shell of a person.

I'd advise you to stop trying to indoctrinate him and get him into therapy but I know people like you well enough to know you either won't do it for fear that the therapist won't share your poisonous world view and will alter the child's faith in biblegod, or you'll insist upon finding him one that shares your delusion and nothing will change.

When you come home from work one day and find that the hopelessness you've burdened him with has resulted in tragedy, I hope you understand that you were the entire cause of it. Not violent video games, rock music, R rated movies or any of the other things you fundies like to blame for your parenting failures. YOU.

Take away her children. She's harming them! Put her in jail - she can wait for Jebus there.

Yes, why bother? Jesus is going to come and fix all your problems... way to screw up your kid, lady. My guess he's depressed not only because of screwy religious fervour, but there's something else bothering him too. If you were a good parent, you'd endeavour to find out what it is and help him fix it. Leave Jeebus out of the picture while doing so will probably help.

Another thought -- since the rapture is happening in the very near future, WTF do you care? What would you do to "correct" his understanding? Tell him to hit the books because the Rapture is called off?

She is almost as mentally insane as the lady who drove her gay son to suicide because of her stupidity.

So, lady, don't be surprised if you come home from work one day and find your son dangling at the end of a rope. Enjoy!

Thats not going to fuck him up in any way. At all.

Great fucking job. You convinced him that the world is going to end soon.

If you don't know why his grades are failing then you fail as a human. Why should he continue if the end of the world is coming?

'My 17 year old son had been a brilliant student in elementary and middle school, however, I convinced him of my rapture understanding. Suddenly, his grades plummeted.'

That's why fundy brainwashing doesn't work - quite often it doesn't have the intended effect; it often backfires. Not surprising, coming from a batshit insane website like Rapture Ready.
