Yeah, I'm sure your speech was helpful. She doesn't think God cares about her and you just call her a whiny little bitch who's going to end up in hell.
Real helpful there Ralph.

God doesn't care.
We do. You only get the one life, don't fuck up, and don't waste it. It will get better, though.

Your theology and understanding of your religion's dogma is incredibly poor.
Why don't you use the phrase " And this, too, shall pass."? It's more comforting than all the words you just wrote. Sounds biblical, too.

Telling this kid that the meaning of life is to be a pain in the ass will likely assure her that life isn't worth living.
Nice going, asshole.

"But if you look at this life with eternity in your eyes, you will realize that this life doesn't really mean anything, it is just a wisp of smoke which is soon blown away by the wind."
I'm sure this wiped all thoughts of hopelessness and suicide from her mind, jackass.

Ralph reminds me of Rimmer from Red Dwarf. Rimmer volunteered to man a suicide hotline. The three individuals who called him all committed suicide, including one who had accidentally dialed the wrong number.

Ralph, you've clearly never experienced depression for yourself. The way she feels has nothing to do with her focusing on the wrong things... in depression, even positive things will fail to bring you any joy. All you've done here is made the poor girl feel even more isolated and misunderstood..

What is important in this life is witnessing to others so that they too can live for eternity with God instead of spending eternity in hell.
I'm sure she'll be much more happy once she becomes a babbling jesubot.

No, no, no, no, NO!
If this girl does wind up killing herself, I hope that torments your conscience. The reason why she's thinking of killing herself is because she's feeling unimportant! If you feed her crap like "this life doesn't really mean anything," you're only affirming her fears.
I'm going to settle down now, but this is easily one of the most idiotic things I have ever read.

Smart. Let's tell the girl that this life doesn't really matter after all. Just what she's thinking when she puts that blade to her wrist. Fucking jackass.
I hope someone else, on the board or off, was able to help her out.

To the girl in question:
Please, for your own sake, do not listen to "advice" from idiots like Ralph. Instead, seek help from a qualified (and secular) mental health professional who will help you work through your feelings and problems instead or blaming you for being "an evil sinner".

Many Psalmists spoke openly of their depression.
Psalm 88 reads in part:
You have caused my companions to shun me; you have made me a horrorto them.
I am shut in so that I cannot escape; my eye grows dim through sorrow.
Every day I call upon you, O LORD; I spread out my hands to you.
Do you work wonders for the dead? Do the departed rise up to praise you?
Psalm 42 echoes that sentiment in these lines:
I say to God, my rock: "Why have you forgotten me?
“Why do I go mourning because of the oppression of the enemy?"
As with a deadly wound in my bones, my adversaries taunt me,
while they say to me all the day long, "Where is your God?"
Gerald Manley Hopkins, who was a 19th Century Jesuit Priest, wrote a poem called “Carrion Comfort.” In it, he repeated the Psalmists’ lament:
NOT, I’ll not, carrion comfort, Despair, not feast on thee; Not untwist—slack they may be—these last strands of man In me ór, most weary, cry I can no more. I can;
Can something, hope, wish day come, not choose not to be.
But ah, but O thou terrible, why wouldst thou rude on me
Thy wring-world right foot rock? lay a lionlimb against me? scan With darksome devouring eyes my bruisèd bones? and fan,
O in turns of tempest, me heaped there; me frantic to avoid thee and flee?
Why? That my chaff might fly; my grain lie, sheer and clear.
Nay in all that toil, that coil, since (seems) I kissed the rod, Hand rather, my heart lo! lapped strength, stole joy, would laugh, chéer.
Cheer whom though? the hero whose heaven-handling flung me, fóot tród Me? or me that fought him? O which one? is it each one? That night, that year Of now done darkness I wretch lay wrestling with (my God!) my God.
So many people have mounted the same cry, and the lucky ones – those who recognized their thoughts of suicide as an attempt to escape pain as opposed to put off life itself – found comfort from fellowship with others. What’s more, modern medicine has allowed for the effective treatment of most depression.
Oh, how I wish Ralph weren’t such a complete asshole, and a pathetic navel-gazer as well. If that dipstick had any clue at all, or any empathy, or even a few brain cells to rub together, his response to that poor girl would have been quite different.
