People talk about how 'wonderful' science is. Well, when the Indians sold long island for about $24 worth of trinkets, they most have thought those trinkets were wonderful at the time, to give up the land. Now you would pay more like $24 a square foot for long island property. Science offers people a hand full of trinkets. People will then give up all they have for a hand full of nothing really. There is so much more to be had, and in reality, science offers so little.

"science offers so little"
is that a computer you're typing on? in your isolated, warm "house", sipping your carbonised soda?
science offers so little...yet so few a people still use caves and torches...
The best part about the '$24 in trinkets' story is that the natives who 'sold' the land didn't own it. They came from further up the Hudson river, and sold something they didn't own to the fool Dutch. Good thing there wasn't a bridge there, the natives would have sold them that too.
They didn't sell it, it was stolen.
Technology is not equal to science, and I have given up stuff for techonology, stuff like money and time.
Science offers answers, and the truth makes people happy.
So Science is wrong... because of inflation? WORST ANALOGY EVER.
I'd rather have a handful of trinkets then a head full of shit, personally. Especially when those trinkets are antibiotics, the internal combustion engine, an atomic power plant, and the transistor.

Meh Fundie!
People talk about how 'wonderful' religion is. I think it's fixed now.
Please, if you know a place selling Long Island property for $24 a square foot, call me. I could buy a 20'x14' plot using my student credit card. ^_^
Are these people honestly still living in the fifties?
Except medicine, agricultural revolution/growing techniques in order to feed everyone, sanitation, and low and behold that fucking computer you just used.
There are few things in life funnier than watching fundies trying to do an analogy.
But speaking of people who give everything up for a handful of nothing, isn't that something which fundies are most prone to doing? Ever heard of Harold Camping, for instance?
I've lived on Long Island, and it's at least 5 times that per square foot.
It's a sure sign of jadedness that this was the first thing I noticed.
k, dump your tv, mobile phone, computer, all electronic games, your microwave oven in the trash. Throw out any clothes with mixed fibres, and stop going to a Doctor when you are sick since most modern drugs have been developed using science.
I will allow pasturised milk, clean drinking water and medical assistance for pregnancy and childbirth so any kids you have get a chance to live past 5. You can decide on vaccinations though, I hear the plagues are lovely.
This type of mentality is why the Fundies have fixated on the 50s as American paradise. It's far enough back that most didn't live then, those that did were children then and smaller populations existed with a larger percent still on farms. They had the automobile, Hospitals and medication and America had a thriving economy.
They believe that in the 50s science had no influence on anything, all the advances and convienances were from god-given American know how.
It's a continuous attempt from these idiots to pretend science is a new thing that concerns itself with disproving God and studying space or things too small to care about. Because after all, those trinkets weren't brought over on a scientifically created tallship. no, we just prayed those behemoths into existance to get to Godland

Fuck citations, actually. Science gives us electric lights, computers, the Internet, medicine, cars, trains, telephones, airplanes, radios, televisions, etc.
You are clearly very wrong.
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
