Quote# 43007

I guess there have always been homosexual clergymen who kept it secret, but that's no answer. The Bible, no matter how questionable, is the guideline, so at least clergy should try to abide by it. Homosexuality, whilst common and certainly trendy, is unnatural and once man starts reckoning that he's bigger than God himself and can start changing the rules to suit, we're on a slippery slope. It's all foretold anyway, only this time the big pox clean up is fire not flood - and not long away.

LOLWUT

Even if it is trendy right now, how can we tell? Also, maybe making it trendy will make it easier for GLBT's to be more accepted?

Homosexuality, whilst common and certainly trendy

I'm sure he agrees:

bigger than God himself and can start changing the rules to suit

"It's all foretold anyway"

So either we do nothing about it, or we disprove the bible.

I'm amazed HYS hasn't turned up more often around here, actually. 'tis the UK's focal point of insanity within cyberspace.

The Bible, no matter how questionable, is the guideline

And that, my friend, renders said bible, null and fucking void.

"Homosexuality, whilst common and certainly trendy, is unnatural"

Reality disagrees. The evidence supports the view that homosexuality is natural.

This fact alone does not automatically make it right or desirable, but discriminating against a person for the way they were born is no more just when it comes to their sexuality than it was when for sex or race.

CtraK: Probably cos the fundies are only a relatively small bunch over here (thankfully!)

Reverend David

Excuse me, but it is the BIBLE that has been adjusted to suit over the centuries.
PS: I am a theologian with 61 years experience.
There is nothing about abortion or homosexuality in the original (Old Hebrew - Babylonian - Amharic) texts.
These items were added by implication by the RCC 700 years ago.

The Bible, no matter how questionable, is the guideline,...

That's the problem right there. Biblicality is a breeding ground for psychoses. Other [better] guidelines exist, and if you settle for the bible, you settle for confused mediocrity at best.

Stuff your prophecies, Nigel.

/once man starts reckoning that he's bigger than God himself and can start changing the rules to suit/

My Lord. This idiot has the nerve to suggest that homosexuals are the ones who think they're gods and want to change the rules?! What about all those popes throughout history who basically told kings and emperors to lick their feet and proceeded to rape, murder, and steal with impunity, on the grounds that they were the supposed speakers for God? The Crusades? The Thirty Years' War?

In the Bible, God says, "Vengeance is mine," but many of his followers had no problem carrying out His "vengeance" themselves as long as it was against people different from them: blacks, Native Americans, non-Christians, "heretics," and women. "Thou shalt not kill" is one of the Ten Commandments. "Love your neighbor as yourself," is one of the most famous sayings of Jesus. Yet these supposed Christians felt no remorse at disobeying these rules, because they thought that the circumstances justified it and that their religion automatically elevated them above their victims.

And yet all homosexuals want to do is to live their lives freely, openly, and without shame, and this moron says that this means that they consider themselves above God? Being yourself is a crime, a sacrilege? And yet I'd bet anything that this fool disobeys half of the rules in the Bible, especially the ones in Leviticus, which the fundies like to trot out so much. How dare you raise yourself above God by eating shrimp, Nigel? How dare you think you can change the rules to suit yourself?

The self-righteous, hypocritical sentiment in his post is disgusting.

Except, you know, when they're raping little children.

God is a sleazy prick, if that's true. "Oh, sure, I won't kill you all ever again...by flood. Next time I'll burn yer asses!"

Homosexuality is trendy, now? LOL! Maybe homosexuals are trendy, but homosexuality, in of itself, is not.
