Some of you say that you don't believe in a God because there is no proof, that's like saying your father never loved you because he never hugged you.

Actually, I'm not sure my father loves me (he's a narcissist, QED), but we do hug. Find a better analogy.
Well, my father didn't say he loved me, then give me a giant stack of papers, each with an action written on them, and tell me "I want you to do something, but I won't tell you what, but it's written on one of these papers. If you do it, you get candy, if you don't, or do the wrong thing, I'll beat you and ground you for the rest of your life."
And, long analogy is long.
One, if a person never hugged you, most probably didn't love you(and sometimes, people hug but don't really love). And, regardless, there are other ways to show affection. However, God has never manifested himself, at least visually, and there is no definitive way to prove he exists.
Except that my father is real and alive, and I can prove it. And while he can be very difficult, he has proven he loves me in a thousand ways. Pretending that your analogy has some merit is simply an insult to my intelligence. Comparing your god to my father is an unforgivable insult to one of the most honorable people I know.
This has been another insight into the mind of the Fundie.
Next week, he'll mention that this sinful world is much like the dark closet that loving parents must sometimes consign their children to.
My father is a deadbeat who lives in a trailer park and uses alcohol and drugs all the time as far as I know. I haven't corresponded with him for over four years, so I honestly don't even know if he DOES exist anymore! And, no, he never hugged me. Considering that he won't even answer my emails, considering how he abandoned my family, there's a good chance that he doesn't love me, no.
But your analogy fails. Maybe if God hugged people, then we could talk.
Indeed, at least the very fact that he doesn´t hugg you is the proof that he exists. So, the analogy is.............atrocious, to say the least.
What does "existence" have to do with "love"?
And what is the connection between "Proof" and "Hugs"?
Makes me wonder ... but Fundies are known to throw around bad, misplaced analogies all the time.
"Some of you say that you don't believe in a God because there is no proof, that's like saying your father never loved you because he never hugged you."
Bad Analogy of the Year award, methinks. Although my father died when I was twelve, at least my father existed. After all...:
If he didn't exist, then how did I come into being? Did the stork bring me to my mother's doorstep?!
He existed, ergo I exist. QED. Your 'God' doesn't . Capisce?
You say that you believe in a 'God' because there is no proof. Has this 'God' of yours ever physically appeared and hugged you? If your answer is anything other than 'No' (and if 'Yes', you're a liar; pics or GTFO), then you've just destroyed your own argument.
Ergo, Atheism. QED.
I love the smell of annihilated arguments in the morning. Smells like... victory.
Has your 'God' ever hugged you ...?!
My father existed to be able to do so: so what's your excuse?
Use of Bad Analogy. Your argument is invalid .
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
