Quote# 44598

Catholicism is not Christianity. Catholicism teaches a false gospel of works that leads to eternal hell (Galatians 1:6-9).

The Bible says we are saved by faith in Jesus without works. The catholics say you need works to be saved.

The difference is the difference between heaven and hell.

Catholicism cannot save, in fact catholicism leads to eternal hell. Only Jesus saves.

The truth is that the only way to be saved and to get into heaven and avoid being sent to eternal hell is by believing that Jesus, who is God, died for our sins on the cross and rose again (1 Corinthians 15:1-4). Believe this and you are saved!

Please pray now: "Jesus, please forgive me of my sins. I believe that You died on the cross for my sins and You rose again. Thank You for eternal life!" You will be in heaven with Him forever when you die :)

"The Bible says we are saved by faith in Jesus without works. The catholics say you need works to be saved."

Actually, genius, the bible says both. But you wouldn't know that, since you clearly haven't actually read it.

@ Dark_Lord_Prime

That can't be right, the bible is the divinely inspired word of God and is therefore infallible, it couldn't possibly contradict itself....... again. ;-)

aaa

Maybe there's more than one way?

8/10/2008 12:18:26 PM

The Bible says that?, I thought that Jesus was crystaline clear in "feeding the poor, helping others...........", etc...........are you Christian or rather Paulian?

@aaa

That's blasphemy. There is only one sure fire way into Heaven and that's by being not following or reading the Bible, be homophobic, anti-Semeatic, racist and an overall douche and waste of flesh and oxygen.

The Bible says we are saved by faith in Jesus without works.

James 2:17 Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.

2:20 But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead?

2:21 Was not Abraham our father justified by works, when he had offered Isaac his son upon the altar?

Matthew 7:21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.

Psalms 62:12 For you render to each one according to his works.

Matthew 16:27 For the Son of man shall come in the glory of his Father with his angels; and then he shall reward every man according to his works.

1 Peter 1:17 And if ye call on the Father, who without respect of persons judgeth according to every man's work, pass the time of your sojourning here in fear:

Don't you ever get tired of being wrong?

Heaven for you guys is an eternity in dr dino's creation museum. That's what sola fide will get you.

Yes, performing good works is a terrible thing and should be discouraged at all costs.

Actually, that explains a lot of the Chistians I've met...

So why bother donating to charity at all, if works won't help?

The Bible says we are saved by faith in Jesus without works. The catholics say you need works to be saved.

I suggest that the next time your preacher asks you to tithe you decline on the grounds that your salvation depends on faith alone. Somehow I suspect he'll tell you that that particular work actually is required.

Please pray now: "Jesus, please forgive me of my sins. I believe that You died on the cross for my sins and You rose again. Thank You for eternal life!" You will be in heaven with Him forever when you die :)

Hmm... Odd, what you're describing is an act, much like going to church or being baptized. Tell me again about how salvation is based purely on faith.

hence american religion, where you can still be a total asshole and with one simple move have your "get out of hell free" card

James

I think you wouldn't get so tetchy about this subject if you actually had any good works.

So, if you believe in Jesus and do good works in His name, you go to tell. But if you believe in Jesus, and don't do jack shit, you go to Heaven?

A man was standing on a bridge. Another man walked up to him and said "Hi. Are you a Christian?"

The first man said "Why yes, yes I am. Are you?"

The second man said "Yes. Are you an adventist?"

The first man said "Yes, I am. Are you an adventist apologist?"

The second man said "Wow, this is awesome. Yeah, I am. Are you a latter-day adventist apologist?"

The first man said "What an amazing coincidence. I am a latter-day adventist apologist. Tell me, are you a post-decree latter-day adventist apologist?"

The second man said "This is quite uncanny. I am indeed! Tell me, are you a pre-millennial post-decree latter-day adventist apologist?"

The first man said "Oh, how magnificent. Yes, I am indeed! Wow, I am so glad that I met you. I must ask, are you also a second-tuesday pre-millennial post-decree latter-day adventist apologist?"

The second man said glared at the first man. "You're a SECOND-TUESDAY pre-millennial post-decree latter-day adventist apologist? You heathen bastard!" and threw the first man off the bridge.

@ Beeblebrox
Thanks.
My personal favourite is James 2:24
"You see that a person is justified by what he does and not by faith alone"

Whereas the Fundie's quote just says "Don't teach a false Gospel". So he's breaching his own quote as well as James's.

Please pray now: "Jesus, please forgive me of my sins. I believe that You died on the cross for my sins and You rose again. Thank You for eternal life!"

Huh. Last I read, the prayer Jesus taught began, "Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name ..." Did God issue errata?

Then again, I was one of those horrible Catholics who believed you had to get off your damn couch and help your fellow man to deserve heaven, so what do I know?

8/10/2008 4:13:24 PM

Yeah, yeah...you've got the one true religion. How nice for you.

Now go die in a holy war.

Only Jesus saves.

The rest of you take full damage.

Brain_In_A_Jar

Accept Jesus and be rewarded. Accept Jesus whilst also trying to do good, and be punished.

I'm sorry, I just can't see how that could possibly work.

8/10/2008 5:53:13 PM

anonymous_troy

So if you have Jesus AND works you're sent to Hell for being a Catholic?

8/10/2008 6:45:03 PM

The Bible says you're wrong, which makes you a heretic, destined for hell.

I would really love to put all you fundies in a stadium, and let you battle it out. Each one of you claim yours is the only one true religion, and everyone else is wrong.
