Quote# 46881

"During the 2004 election season, he praised President Bush's performance during a debate with Sen. John Kerry, then offered a not-so-subtle message about his personal candidate preferences. "I'm not going tell you who to vote for, but if you vote for this particular person, I question your salvation. I'm sorry." Kalnins added: "If every Christian will vote righteously, it would be a landslide every time."

Months after hinting at possible damnation for Kerry supporters, Kalnins bristled at the treatment President Bush was receiving over the federal government's handling of Hurricane Katrina. "I hate criticisms towards the President," he said, "because it's like criticisms towards the pastor -- it's almost like, it's not going to get you anywhere, you know, except for hell. That's what it'll get you."

Clerics and leaders of any and all religions should be criticized continually, and for my money, viciously.

To qualify as a religious leader, you MUST be able to awaken after being officially dead for three days.

No complaints, no substitutions, no exceptions.

This'll only hurt for a second.

I'd say that asshat is a cryptofacist, but there's not much crypto about it.

He's a megalomaniac, it's pretty simple. Someone has fucked up notions of what authority and respect mean, and not a very high opinion of personal autonomy. He ought to head back to the century he fucking came from.

No Biblical citation for any 11th Commandment of 'Thou shalt not criticise pastors nor presidents'.

Anyone who believes that criticism of themselves will send others to hell, is seriously suffering delusions of grandeur.

*Sigh* I just don't know what to do anymore. I feel so depressed for my country. I am a classical, small-government conservative. I wanted to vote for John McCain. I really did. I used to admire him when he stood against the Republican party line and spoke his mind. I even got matched up with him on all of those stupid "which candidate best matches your beliefs" quizzes.

And then he goes and makes it harder and harder for me to even consider voting for him. At this point, I might seriously consider voting for Obama (who seems like a decent and relatively honest candidate), or I might just stay home :-\

There's something un-American about the whole, 'Vote for our candidate or get tortured' thing. Maybe America needs to invade itself.

So this is the kind of self-serving con men who have the ear of the most powerful/influential people in the world? No wonder humanity is in such a bloody mess.

How much do you want to bet that now that that the president isn't the one he wanted, he's been screaming about everything Obama's done and how Obama's hellbound, completely ignoring the whole "you shouldn't criticize the president" thing? But then, in saying this, I'm criticizing a pastor, so I guess I'll be going to hell for daring to question the God-Emperor Ed Kalnins.

@John
"If every Christian will vote righteously, it would be a landslide every time.

By the average fundie's definition of "Christian", that would only add about 60 votes."

Wait a minute... women voters would not be allowed among the people Ed classes as "Christian"... therefore reducing the numbers of potential voters still further. And black people may only have four fifths of a vote.
