So I gotta ask. Are you satisfied with 'we come from monkeys(apes, stupid evolution). Are you satisfied with 'we just die'. Dude, if GOD isn't REAL, then that must mean there is NO hope.

No hope for what, dying?
I sure as hell don't HOPE I'll die.
Jee willickers, I hope you do though.
P.S it is Bonobos we are mostly related to not apes. Look it up.
We don't come from monkeys or apes. We do however share a common ancestor. If by 'no hope', you mean 'no hope beyond the grave', you're completely right. I would suggest that, by implication, it also means we should spend the one life we have as best we can. We shouldn't spend it waiting to die. Live every day as if it's your last - one day, it will be.
"THERE IS NO HOPE, THERE IS NO MERCY, THERE IS NO JUSTICE. THERE IS ONLY ME."
(Death of the discworld, Terry Pratchett, "Mort")Also:
"WHAT CAN A HARVEST HOPE FOR IF NOT FOR THE MERCY OF REAPER MAN?"
(Terry Pratchett, "Reaper Man")
@Dr. Shrinker: That is maybe one of the best explanations of that point that I have ever heard. Kudos to you for writing it.
@Clown: Ah, Discworld. Love those books.
I am perfectly OK with evolution. I don't understand why the idea of coming from an ancestor who was likely very ape-like is such a problem.
"We just die." Well, of course we do! Everything dies at some point.
Oh, you mean in the sense of no afterlife. I'm fine with that as a very likely possibility. It certainly makes more sense, and is perhaps a kinder end, than the one you must fantasize about.
Nope. I am however satisfied with "we share a common ancestor with the other great apes".
We were 'just born'. I belive that afterlife is pretty much like beforelife.
There is hope! Hope of leaving a better world for our children, hope of curing cancer, hope of finding something new that will take care of multi-resistant bacteria, etc. There is lots of hope. Since your God has done nothing in these matters, I say we leave him out of the equation.
What do you mean no hope? There's a great world out there that we only get one shot at. It means that we have incentive to build, dance, sing, create. To leave something that could help us be remembered, or at the very least to try to live our lives in a way that can be happy and give us fond memories.
No hope of a second magical life.
No hope of you getting one because some scam artist told you you would.
We know this, an afterlife is a childish fantasy, you might as well hang on the words of the stoned caterpillar.
C'on, everybody sing along!
I'm-a gonna die,
You're-a gonna die,
We're-a gonna die,
They're-a gonna die,
All-a god's chillun gonna die!
The
End
Yes, I'm satisfied with the fact that I share some common ancestor with every being on this planet, including monkeys and apes. Yes, I accept that one day I must die. No, if god wouldn't exist it wouldn't mean that there is no hope. (I choose to believe in him for my own reasons, but he is not a concept I need to fill my life with meaning.) I'm even content with the fact that there just might be nothing after my death, and while I would embrace the afterlife if it exists, I'm not in despair over the possibility that there just might be nothing after death and I'm certainly not thinking of my life as just a possibility to gather points for the afterlife. THAT would be a waste. Life is the only meaning of life and if you need more, then try to fill this gap yourself.
“So I gotta ask.”
I gotta wonder if you’ll ever hear the answers.
“Are you satisfied with 'we come from monkeys(apes, stupid evolution).”
My parents are apes, so, yeah. My grandkid is an ape. I know SHE comes from apes.
What would make me DISsatisfied?
"Are you satisfied with 'we just die'.”
Tell me, when you DON’T win the lottery each week, are you satisfied with the fact that you lost?
If no, does dreaming that you won make it so?
I’m pretty sure we all die. (Maybe not me, ihaven’t died once my whole life, so far).
I see no reason to think anything persists.
“Dude, if GOD isn't REAL, then that must mean there is NO hope.”
Wrong, my LEGO museum has already shipped.
Confused?
