On a list made in a Nazi library-regulating journal called "Die Bucherei" - "The Books" - published in 1935,which mentions
'6. Writings of a philosophical and social nature whose content deals with the false scientific enlightenment of primitive Darwinism and Monism (Häckel).'
('6. Schriften weltanschaulichen und lebenskundlichen Charakters, deren Inhalt die falsche naturwissenschaftliche Aufklärung eines primitiven Darwinismus und Monismus ist (Häckel). ', for all you Deutsche-speakers out there ;), p.279. [1]
Back to me: While Hitler was obviously a big fan of Social Darwinism, this is not the same as Darwin's Theory of Evolution - it does not deal with genetics or speciation, among other things. In fact, this excerpt from "Hitler's Tabletalk" shows the exact opposite:
From where do we get the right to believe, that from the very beginning Man was not what he is today? Looking at Nature tells us, that in the realm of plants and animals changes and developments happen. But nowhere inside a kind shows such a development as the breadth of the jump , as Man must supposedly have made, if he has developed from an ape-like state to what he is today. - Adolf Hitler, Hitler's Tabletalk (Tischgesprache im Fuhrerhauptquartier) [2]
Interestingly, Hitler did mention what Creationists today call "micro-evolution" in Mein Kampf:
"The fox remains always a fox, the goose remains a goose, and the tiger will retain the character of a tiger. The only difference that can exist within the species must be in the various degrees of structural strength and active power, in the intelligence, efficiency, endurance, etc., with which the individual specimens are endowed. (Mein Kampf, vol. ii, ch. xi) [3]
At the very least, we can assume the Adolf "One-Ball" Hitler wanted people to think that he was Christian, and wanted them to think he was anti-evolution. While he is the very last historical figure from whom we should expect any kind of self-consistency, it is therefore not unreasonable to believe - given his positions on a variety of topics ranging from Judaism to family life to science to the necessity of (Christian!) prayer in schools - that he believed Christian mythology on some level, and wanted to supplant it with pagan myths solely for reasons of political expediency - getting rid of all those pesky passages where Jesus says to "Love thy neighbour as thyself", and so on.
Edit: Showed the original sources but not the websites I found them on. Wups!
